  • I've gone from a worst of 25l/100 towing the Jayco Outback Swann with the Chip It fitted to a best of 15.3l/100 towing my 6x4 box trailer which is caged, enclosed and covered (bit of a wind sock) with all the accessories still fitted to the bus and the Steinbauer installed.. Pretty happy with the difference on the ole 1KZ..

    • I am still getting 1259 km's - 1368 km's (approx 9.3) per tank in my 10 month old manual Prado.

      • I'm getting around 10.5L /100KMs daily (highway driving), so about 1250 Ks per tank. It takes about 135L when filling. If I'm late for work then it goes to 13L/100 KMs

            You can use this:

            https://motormouth.com.au/myvehicle/...alculator.aspx

or calculate it yourself by recording the litres used over kilometers travelled.

I just reset my trip counter each time I fill, then you divide the litres taken to fill by the kms on the trip counter then you multiply it by 100.

For example I filled 164L yesterday and travelled 1167km so my consumption is roughly 14L per 100kms which is pretty much bang on average for my truck.

              164 divided by 1167 x 100 = 14.05L per 100km

As you can see in my sig, I have the good old 1kz. It has 2" lift, 265/70's, steel bar, steel steps, steel roof cage, awning, and a lot of other gear to make it heavier and less aero dynamic so I dont think 14L around town is too bad.

                D4D 6 speed Manual

                Cooper AT3 265/70R17
                ARB Bull Bar
                Winch
                Dual battery
                Snorkel
                ARB roof rack
                Kaymar rear wheel carrier
                ISI bike carrier

All of these weighty add ons and my heavy right foot, not speeding but going at the posted speed limits.

                  • 1KZ 2003 GXL, 212,000 klms......... 22ft 2 1/2 ton van on, flog it and I only get 600 k's till empty, back off and sit around 95 kph and get close to 900 klms to empty. Keep to speed limits VIC to QLD and get in excess of 1600klms for around 170 ltrs without van on.
never bother to work out fuel to klms etc just watch the fuel gauge and can see how much distance before next required stop.

                    • we recently got a 2004 GLX auto diesel. Took it for a run down the high way, 700km round trip, sitting 110 mostly. Pretty empty(fridge and overnight bags) and it only has a alloy front bar and some low profile roof racks, we got 13.5/100km. The vehicle has 80,000 on the clock. Should I be happy with this?

                        Hey Matt,

Think that is on par with other KZ owners. you would get on or under 13l/100 if you sat on 100 or 95 but i never do .lol

The KZ came out new with a combined of 11.5l/100 . I have never seen anyone post those figures on this forum until Johna post which im sceptical. :O

The 1kz range is from anywhere around 1200-1400kms , 1600km is 10.63l/100km so excess of 1600km would be even better still . he may be confused and have a D4D model

                          • Our average with BFG 265/70, ARB bar and lift is 11 L/100 and 13-14.5 towing the camper (1000) kg. Have seen figures from the scan gauge of 9.3 but that was at 80-90 kph in heavy traffic. Also see figures of 40 L/100 towing on the Laura - Maytown track.
Fuel use hasn't changed with recon motor without the tuneit chip.
