  • You could go into one of the Hydraulink or Coopers Fluids type shops, or if you are in the mining game - your workshop, and look at hydraulic fluid hoses. Hydraulink in Kalgoorlie helped me out with hoses and stainless reducer fittings at a good price.

How often do you change the hoses if you use heater hose?
Also I am looking at sourcing a more suitable hose to use rather than a heater hose.
Can anyone suggest a more suitable oil/heat resistant silicone black hose and supplier?
I went through Western Filters. Tell them what you're after and they'll post it out if it's too hard to get to a local shop.

      • Well I ordered a Provent knock-off. This thing is HUGE! I literally have no-where to put it. The ABS module is in the way behind the airbox, dual batt in front, and I have the 3rd fuel filter and compressor on the back passenger side.... Think ill have to put this one up for sale to recoup my costs and figure an alternative....

Don't be ridiculous. I have all those extras and more. I first mounted mine to the left side of the transmission housing. I have since relocated it mounted to the aux battery box next to the coolant reservoir. Plenty of room.

          • hmmm i tried next to aux battery wouldnt fit with the batt I have there, and would have to make some crazy bracketry to get it to the side of the engine bay. Not to mention the trans cooler hoses that are now located there also.

I do like that position down low under the car.... any more pics of that?

I hope my provent knockoff is the same size as yours, it does look quite similar.

excuse my exasperation, done many jobs on the car this last week and this bloody thing just kicked my ass at the wrong time of day....

I thought the same about where to put mine, but Bushbasher's photos have made me realise there is hope.

                • I hope I can get it in to fit. I have 2 days to get it fitted and the EGR cleaned up before I drive 900km to Fraser....

                  • I relocated the can primarily because now I can change/clean the filter without having to remove the whole unit. A second filter cost $80 odd off ebay. I clean one whilst running the other. The dump pipe, fitted with a threaded bolt, sits just inside the front right of the BD bash plate.

                    • I need some help with a catch can install. Am I right with the attached photos? I have a snorkel and have looked at other pics but cant seem to find anything that assists me with the return hose. Also you might be able to see in the first pic it looks like my rocker cover has been cracked and temp fixed (glue or something?) at one stage (is this a big worry?). So was thinking that I will do the catch can install at the same time as replacing the cover if required.Click image for larger version

                      • Out from rocker cover outlet pipe, through can and into pipe near turbo as you have correctly arrowed. Don't worry about the cover it's just that a plastic cover with heat shield. The true rocker cover is underneath that and sealed. The intercooler is easy enough to remove to make the plumbing job easier.

                        • Fantastic Bushbasher thanks much appreciated. Will give it a crack. How do you clean the intercooler? as while I have it off I may as well do that I guess.

                          • You don't. It will have a very light coating of oil residue which isn't enough to worry about. If you try to remove that with a degreaser or other liquid solvent you will have a problem getting all the liquid out and the internals completely dry. You can clean the larger metal pipe from the turbo to the inter-cooler inlet and you can give the throttle body a quick wipe as well.

                              • Hi guys. I just bought a Provent 200 for my D4D 120 series. The hose fitting instructions seem to vary on different sites.
The top hose goes to the sump on some, and goes to the inlet on the rocker cover on others. Which way is right?
