  • Beaudesert Exhaust - Prado exhaust systems

The name comes up in google, with plenty of mentions here also and they even have a youtube channel, but I want to hear from owners of their systems (be it their preferred 2 3/4" system or a 3" system) on their prado D-4D's

Given they're just down the road from where I grew up - I thought I should give them the custom, but if there are better solutions - I'd love the feedback.

    P.S. looking for high-flow solution for a '09 120 Grande diesel.

    cheers,

    Matt

Will they make a 3" system?

Last time I spoke to them I got some grumpy old bloke and he wasn't interested in anything other than 2 3/4", he wouldn't even negotiate on removing mufflers etc. from system... He was a bit of a spanner.

From what I've heard they're good systems though.

Ive got a 3inch on mine...1kzte though... sounds good- between that and the maxxis bighorns i can here the missus coming from 2 blocks away at night... i cant offer dyno before and after facts but i did have to get the muffler welded and a reinforcing brace between the muffle and the rear pipe due to cracking from movement... when i hit a hard bump it hits on the rear bumper too giving a tinging sound and geez does it move around on them rubber mounts! Id be looking at a manta next time. The word Manta sounds a bit more sexy...

I fitted my 2 3/4 beaudesert on the 15/10/08 (time gets away) with no probs. still very happy with it. What i did do though was fit an extra brase from the transmission rear mount, to stop the possibility of the dump pipe cracking and i believe that this was a problem. That was the only week point i could see. Next time i will get the heat treated dump pipe, eventuly that will be the first to go but i expect to get years yet.

Gidday matt, fitted the 3" beaudesert last year to my d4d and I am happy with the improvemts to economy and performance. Car had a bit of a drone noise low done but I am used to it now. Not cheap but worth the money in My humble opinion.

            Cheers

Is there a difference in performance and / or noise between 2 3/4 and 3 inch on a D4D?

I spoke to Chris at Beaudesert Exhausts, and he said they'll make up a 3" system no drama's...

though he claimed the 2 & 3/4" system was the optimum for the Prado D-4D... though if i heard him right - it was another $400 to get that extra 1/4" of pipe...

As I'd be looking to go chip/exhaust/filter in on hit, I'd probably just go with the 3" system and be done with it, drone or not - I have a 3" system on my WRX STi and nothing is going to out-drone that on the highway :P

                  Thanks for the feedback guys!

Oh the subject - I don't suppose anyone has any sound clips of their 2 & 3/4 or 3" systems on youtube or something??

I have had 2 3/4" fitted for over 3 years. Proven 10% better fuel economy. Biggest benefit is power/torque increase. Towing a 2.5 tonne caravan the auto used to hunt back and forth but now with Beaudesret exhust this hunting has disappeared completely. I had mine fitted at the factory in Beaudesert and could not be happier. Extra bonus is that there is no need to chip the engine. Go for the recommended 2 3/4.

Thats good to hear Callo, that is exactly the result I am looking for, hence I have made the decision to go with the standard Beaudesert system, just need to pony up the $$.

Regards going to a 3" system, the clearance for the exhaust on the Prado around the rear axle area is pretty tight, I think you will find that a bit of banging with 3" system is not uncommon. I gather this and the fact that the 2 3/4 system does the job is why they have chosen to go that way.

                      Cheers Andrew

Gidday wooley, I had emailed them several times and on their suggestion arrived to have the 3" fitted on my next trip from sydney to brisbane. I agree they didn't have the best after sales follow up when I picked car up just pay the money($1800.00) I think and we will see you later. I was of the opinion they had the 3" on the shelf.

Hi guys, I'm noticing that my system shakes a lot, is this normal? Also I'm racking my brain I have a harmonic sound resonating into the cabin, it's coming from the rear, but can't work out what it is, in looking closely at the exhaust but still not sure. Any ideas? It can be heard when going over bumps in the road mackayvx had a ride with me yesterday and still are rubbing our heads

                              I run a 3" pacemaker s/s system on my 1Kz 120.
Some extra power and a great sound(not too loud)
Have just returned from completing th Anne Beadell Highway ( read TRACK!! 1300km of dirt and 900km of corrugations *##*!!)
Not a thump or bang from the exhaust but it did destroy a front shocker and spotlight.
Will write about it when I stop shakinggg!!
Happy with the system ( No cats!)
