Has anyone fitted one of these to 1kz-te? Did you make your own or buy one? Where did you mount it?

Do you have any photos of your installation mate?
Below are some photos of the calibre catch can that I installed - mounted from the ARV battery tray I have my compressor in... Posted the information in the Oil Catch Can for catching Blow by... thread a couple of months ago.

Recently installed a 1 Litre catch can that was fitted to the drivers side wheel arch just behind the air box. It was a tight squeeze as the brake lines are right next to it. The ABS cable (attached to the plastic grommet on the side had to be re-positioned to allow it to fit. Can was @$50 with no stuff inside (Billet racing from ebay). It came with some real poor hose and plastic type outlets but these were all replaced by a mechanic. It looked like garden hose!!
Had to bend @20-25mmm 3mm flat bar 90 degrees like an L shape for the can to sit on as a bracket. The rear x2 threads on the can are used on the upright L bracket to hold it. The holes for the bracket to mount up to the arch protrude out from the can. (Pic later).
The hardest part was making a spacer to hold the bracket up as the wheel arch is not flat! Need to add some insertion rubber underneath at a later date to prevent rattling etc. Will also paint it up later to prevent rust!
Some pics without the airbox

Pics with the airbox back on. It's clear of everything inc the brake lines.

One of the best mods I've ever had done, as when the air intake was cleaned it was full of black crud, esp the throttle body, (oil mist from the EGR). This should alleviate that now. Will have to take the can out every now and again to clean, but better than in the air intake!?
I ordered the black colour to stop the dirt showing. There is a clear gauge how the side to tell you when it's full.[SIZE=1]03 TD 120 Grande, L&R weathershields, f&r deflectors, Sov bar Amts rad b.pl, TJM front B.P, Uniden UH7760NB Kaymar LED worklight, ARB 47l, lifestyle rack & Milford C. Possibly easier..as there was an element of messing around with this but not sure about effective..IMO . I've read threads on blocking/restricting the EGR. Is it even legal? I do like trying to help the environment as much as possible though! I believe the C.C. way is worthwhile and affordable even if you own a D4D (I don't). A clean out every now and again will take no time. But your right it is the carbon mixing with the oil mist that WAS creating gunk in my air intake.Last edited by macaroon1; 01-06-2014, 06:54 PM.[SIZE=1]03 TD 120 Grande, L&R weathershields, f&r deflectors, Sov bar Amts rad b.pl, TJM front B.P, Uniden UH7760NB Kaymar LED worklight, ARB 47l, lifestyle rack & Milford C. Those empty style catch cans won't do much catching if you don't put something in it. Either some baffles or at the least some stainless wire wool.
If you don't change the direction of the airflow a few times to separate the oil from the airflow then most of the oil mist will still travel through.

You can get stainless steel wool scourers from supermarkets,(the type that look like metal swarf from a drill press or lathe)
They don't come apart into little pieces like wire wool.

OK Mick..as you and TTR are my KZ engine gurus!!?. It does make a lot of sense and I've read about those metal swarf scrubby things before. I'll see if I can bung one in one day? It is only 1 litre. When you say " If you don't change the direction of the airflow a few times to separate the oil from the airflow then most of the oil mist will still travel through" how do you achieve that?....Thank you[SIZE=1]03 TD 120 Grande, L&R weathershields, f&r deflectors, Sov bar Amts rad b.pl, TJM front B.P, Uniden UH7760NB Kaymar LED worklight, ARB 47l, lifestyle rack & Milford C.
