Wynns egr3 works but can only be ordered by a workshop. Threebond Diesel Engine Conditioner works ok, JLM Diesel Intake Cleaner can be ordered online. Works the same as Wynns but comes in a bigger can and is cheaper. I've used all three and have found Wynns and JLM the best. Threebond works better if sprayed and left to soak.

Time permitting...Can you do up post of what should be cleaned etc, how and what with I wish to clean mine very soon.
My 2009 120 Series D4D Prado has 85,000km on it. The injector seals got replaced by Toyota @ 80,000. I also put their injector additive in at 80,000 (Toyota say every 40,000), Catch can should arrive any day, put an additional fuel filter in. Just need to check the oil pick-up, I am going to start changing oil and filter in between services (5,000km). And last but not least I will get my mechanic to check the range of the injectors and look at replacing them @ 130,000km.
Sounds too hard. I'll decoke the fridge and get a pro to do the engine

OK, so I have a 2008 D4D, 120,000km;s its about time I did this cleanup too.
Found JLM or EGR3 form the UK on flea bay.
Assuming I get either one of these, can anyone please give an idjut some insight into how to use the product?
I know it is a spray can, but where do I spray?? obviously the other end to the exhaust pipe
D4D Prado GXL - 2014. 2" OME lift, ARB Deluxe Winch bar, ARB under body protection plates, ARB EZ Deflator, Weaco fridge, Matsen fridge on slide, BFG A/T's, ARB CKMA12 compressor, Oztrail side awning with LED lights PLUS canvas extension, Lightforce XGT's.. Oricom UHF380, GME AE4017
I use the threebond stuff I do it every 2nd service
Remove the intercooler so you can spray directly into the throttle body and follow the directions on the can
I first did mine at 95000klm and only had about a 1inch opening rom the gunk build up made a world of difference in my case due to how restricted it was
To use the intake cleaners clean the outside of the airbox, open and spray the cleaner through the pipe that goes down to the turbo. You'll need an attendant to hold the engine at 2000 to 3000rpm.
I recom spraying through the turbo is better than removing the intercooler as it will clean the oil from the intercooler in the process.

Postage from Holland is 8 Euro no matter what the quantity. Being a flammable aerosol, I'll be interested to see how they freight them across to us.
My 1KZ clunker has about 110,000km, so I reckon it's due for a once-over. There's a bit of an oil (or gunk) stain around where the butterfly housing joins the inlet manifold. Looks like the gasket has developed a slight weep.
Does anyone know what kind of solvent "tanking" works on the inlet manifold if this stuff doesn't work?
This'll be the first step before doing the catch can bizzo
Will let y'all know of it's any good. I was going to shoot some down the inlet before the turbo (as they recommend). I think I'll take a look in the intercooler etc before I do it and get some before and after shots. I'm a bit skeptical, because for a solvent (which it obvoiusly is) I think the temperatures downstream of the turbo will cause some evaporation of the solvents, rendering them less effective (if effective at all). Well, for higher mileage engines anyway.
On my 1kz, I use the Subaru stuff made by bars leaks. They also make it for ford.
Anyone can buy it for around $20 a can.
Do it every 20k.
There is a special procedure on diesels due to compression.
I think I posted it on another similar thread.
Basically, run it out of fuel &
Spray the gear while cranking it, 1/2 a can let it sit 10 and spray the rest.
You shouldn't spray 1/2 a can as per the can instructions, is the main thing.
I have done it running just spray a few bursts.

I'm thinking of buying this JLM stuff online. Are we sure these things are good for 1kd? We all know how touchy and sensitive the d4d is.
I hear the general consensus is to take the airbox off and spray up the inlet rubber pipe that joins the turbo?
When people say it made difference I'm assuming it was to do with throttle response?
Interesting to hear about the additives/treatments to de-gunk the inlet... About 40 thou kms ago I removed the inlet manifold and cleaned the gunk out... Yes not alot of fun but at the same time I blocked the EGR off with a blanking plate. At that time alot and i mean alot of goo was in the inlet ports of the head which could not be removed. Last week I had the head off with ########## (due to cracking) and we found the inlet and head to be very clean- and ive now done 250 thou kms... My 2 cents worth is if you have a 1kz clean the inlet properly and block the EGR... The rest of the crud will burn off ...
The trick is to use the intake cleaner from new so there's never excessive buildup. Once the layer of crud gets too thick, a few cans of spray will be required to get it clean.

I've used similar stuff back in my Subaru wrx days and remember lifting some vacuum hoses near rocket cover and spraying into them as well. Not sure if that helps here. Seems it's only done by spraying upwards of the airbox into the rubber turbo inlet pipe (still trying to confirm it)??
Interesting thing, I ordered 3 cans from that Dutch website listed here and was worried that no confirmation email came back. Then.I checked my spam and sure it was there. It was moved because the Dutch persons name is 'Ruud Post'
