Just bought a 2008 Prado D4D and it makes a bit of a howling noise in 2nd and 3rd at low revs. Any ideas what this might be? Before I see a mechanic.

Manual or auto? Same revs or same road speed? Can you narrow your location down a bit a local PPer might be able to suggest someone to look at it.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Same revs in every gear? May be clutch? Sounds like it isn't speed related if it goes away at the same speed but different gears? My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Mine has one of those pesky vibrations that only appears when you pull up in the driveway and you have it in gear. The noise goes away when you shift into park or neutral. The plastic cover over the inter cooler is my prime suspect. Fixed a knock in the rear where the Manta rear muffler was hitting the tow bar mount just as you come to a stop. I guess all those dirt tracks through the guts of WA and NT rattled a few things loose.Dave
