Hi all
Here is the installation process for the Steinbauer Diesel Performance Chip into a 2005 1KZ-TE Landcruiser Prado.
1. Disconnect the battery and remove from the truck.
2. Unplug the rear connector on the Injector Pump and Connect this plug into one of the Module plug and the other module plug into the Injector pump. Basically it fits in between the wire and the pump and gives the module its info. Cable tie the wires from here up to the fuse box area where the module can be fitted.
3. Locate the Throttle Position Wire which is located in the connector that plugs into the unit at the top of the accelerator pedal. Poke your head under the dash and with a torch you can see the plug. The wire you need is the sixth wire closest to the firewall. It is white with a blue trace and silver chevrons. (There is a photo in a bit). There are two nuts that hold the accelerator on the firewall and they need a 10mm socket to remove. Once removed you can access the plug.
4. Check the colour of the wire as you next head over to the wiring loom near where the battery sits and will need to find it in the loom (Passenger Side Front)
5. Unclip the two white c clips that hold the loom to the body and using a blade out of a stanley knife or similar CAREFULLY peel back the electrical tape that is wound around the loom. Once exposed GENTLY move them around until you find the wire that is WHITE with a BLUE trace and SILVER chevrons or little arrows. Once you have found it GENTLY expose the copper wire underneath. (There is a photo in part two of the instal that shows the loom I am talking about)
6. Using jumper leads connect the battery to the vehicle making sure the positive can't touch anything. Ignition on. Don't start.
7. Using a multimeter put the black on the earth and red on the WHITE/BLUE/SILVER wire and check the voltage. It should be around the 1 volt.
8. Have a helper put the throttle all the way and watch the voltage. It should go up to around the 4 volts but the main thing is that it goes up and down with the throttle. You now have the correct wire. If not, keep looking or run the wire from the module to the wire at the throttle.
9. Ignition off. Disconnect the battery again.
10. Pair back the wire and run the white wire from the Module to the loom and cut to length leaving enough so you can route it out of the way.
11. Solder the module wire to the loom wire, tape it up to protect it and then re tape the loom.
