  • Changing the fuel filter on a 3000 turbo diesel

Could a member give me the method of changing the fuel filter and "bleeding" the system. I'm about to hit the road north, I have spare filter just in case I get some bad fuel.

    Thanks
    Jim

Changing the fuel filter on a 3000 turbo diesel

All I do is disconnect the in and out fuel lines from the filter. Undo the plug from the sensor, then undo the nuts from the filter mount to the car. Pull the whole complete filter and housing out. Then I use one of those rope filter wrenches to unscrew the filter. Make sure the new O ring has been installed lubricate it with some diesel and then fill the new filter up with clean diesel, screw it back on the housing and refit to the car and attach fuel lines. Lastly use the priming button on Top of the housing to pump the last bit of diesel into the filter and housing, stop once it feels firm. Start the car check for leaks and your done

        2nd that. Easy job.

I didn't have any Diesel to pre fill mine but I pumped the primer until firm and started it. No probs at all.

Changed my filter today. Only difference was I left the out hose off and primed until diesel appeared, then the hose went back on and away we went. Took all of 20 minutes.

Thanks guys for the response, seems like a reasonably easy job if you take it easy.

            Cheers

No dramas jim, glad it helped. I was also a bit dubious the first time I did the filter change out but the hardest thing I found was undoing the filter element from the housing, the last mech must have tightened it up like his life depended on it...
