  • Engine life span?

    Just Wondering if theres any good stories out there about these engines? Anyone punched out 500000km or so with just good servicing and the standard injector replacement.
    Ive searched but not much has come up unfortunatly. All ive read is horra stories which sux.
    Im just about to do my injectors at 114000k which im happy to do but am i just delaying the inevitable?

    Im really hoping for some good stories.... Anyone?
    07 GXL 3.0L Diesel 6 speed manual,tough dog lift,polyaire bags. MTZ's .ARB bullbar,11lb winch,airtech snorkel,red arc dual battery system,custom drawers,shelves and cargo barrier,diff breathers,rear e-locker,arb fridge,msa drop slide,flat rack hi lift jack and shovel holder. roof top tent.fox wing awning with remote control led lighting,1600 led light bar,rear work lights,recovery points,on board compressor

    I see 300kers still on original injectors running like new.
    There is a few 700kers I have heard of out west.
    The majority will go longer than its owner. Maintenance & egr mod will decide how well they go.
    People don't write about the majority of good experiences they are busy enjoying it.
    When it goes wrong, that's when google & places like this hear sbout it.

    I know of a few planning to run them right up, the negative is they were *only maintained by Toyota for the first 150-200k
    But now that I'm on the job they have their best chance, what we dont really know yet is how much damage was done by things like IMO leaving injectors in too long & all that soot build up, long term it's a no go!
    The service books were written in theory before the vehicles were driven for 10+ years, that's why I do things a bit differently, based on practise & reality today.

      Well its great to here that they really can be a reliable car. hopefully we might start seeing a few better stories rather then the nightmares ive read. really been thinking of getting rid of it but hated the idea as its been such a great car.

        Mate my dads KZJ120 ended up getting sold bout half a year ago with 890K on the clock and only had 3 sets of injectors, i dont understand when i see people saying "chaning my injectors next service at 115k"...wtf?! Ive never heard of injectors being changed so early on or so damn regularly in my life until i looked uo pradopoint. Honestly i dont see the point.. my 2 cents.

            We got rid of 2 cent pieces years ago. When you have a spare couple of hours read the threads on the D4D engine and, if you do, you will know why owners are routinely replacing injectors and performing other maintenance to ensure the D4D doesn't go bang. You cannot compare the D4D to the earlier diesel.
