    I have the sound files from an earlier post to. I couldn't really here anything too conclusive though. Id be happy to catch up with you guys anytime. I'll post one of my personal email addresses in my profile or you can just PM me and we can arrange to catch up that way. I don't have any problem with travelling around Brisbane.

    Another problem is that the noise only appears during warm up so by the time anyone drove to a location for everyone to have a listen the motors would be warmed up. I guess John (Grey Nomad) and I can do a comparison since we live only a few ks apart otherwise not sure how to organise this and what it would achieve.

    Ideas???????????????????

      It would not be discernable at the moment with my recorder. It is only just noticeable att. I am going to get it checked when I am down at Newcastle to see what they have to say. Too be honest I am trying to forget it until it becomes really loud again cause I don't want to get more of the same injectors put in if there are new models on the way.

          It's just a diesel knock caused by the remaining injectors over compensating for the faulty injector :roll:

            dont forget that diesel knock is pre detination which isnt the best thing for the engine

              The injectors are done!!!!!!!!!!!

              Finally had them replaced today with a new updated version and have been told that this is the official Toyota fix.

              I will find out at 0530h in the morning when I get up to test it out.

              Then it will be out I go to start spending some funny money on the truck.... finally after 18 months

                Great to hear babs! Hopefully this fix will be the one that gives a permanent solution.

                  Hi everyone,

                  Cold start tested the new injectors this morning and I am pleased to find that the noise is gone.

                  The very disturbing noise at start up is gone which is good, however I think that 18 months of pain is making me paranoid.....But I put it straight into "D" and took her for a spin and the short fuzed hand grenade seems to have disappeared.

                  We will have to see if my fuel consumption goes back to normal as 13l / 14l per 100km at $1.55 per litre is hurting, especially now ULP is $1.15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                  I will test drive it in two weeks on the way to Adelaide towing my enclosed bike trailer and see how she goes.

                  I can feel a big hole in my wallet starting to grow................and I like it. My wish list just got very big!!!

                        I had a face to face with the service manager when I picked it up and he said it was " the official fix from Toyota with a new designed injector" and that if this didnt work they had nothing left to offer me and we would be back where we were 18 months ago.

                        I had a look at the service sheet and it tells me nothing but if you like I can PM anyone with the info...we dont want Toyota sending us legal emails

                        If anyone wants any info please feel free to PM me and I will respond ASAP

                            Easter-08 White GXL D4D Auto - delivered in near record time (5d) from placement of order. Has turned into a "Bermuda" or "Swiss fund" where $ get lost or converted into mods/accessories.

                                Hi there,

                                Hi been reading the last 40 pages with great interest. I'm going through the same thing with Toyota here in UK. They knew about the problems. Said it was more prolific in the HILUX than prado but maybe thats due to numbers sold up here..)

                                I'm waiting for the warranty people here to give the go ahead on the replacement. They are undecided due the compesation codes being within tolerance, but the mechs at the garage agreed with me that its sounds like a bag of nails from cold and needs addressing (left car there over night).

                                Wold appreciate the part numbers of those injectors if possible, will give me something to check against if and when it gets done.

                                Great forum and great contributors - made my life easier up here in resolving the matter - well hopefully.....
