Hi all

Just got the truck back today after the new toyota fix for the diesel rattle.

1. 4 x new design injectors (Model number on box was Denso : 095000-7781)
2. Reflash/Programming ECU to suit new injectors

Gotta go back after a 1000km for injector test/measurment.

Feedback so far: - MUCH MUCH better! Drives better, soother & no shaking, rattling (just like it was when new!)

All good so hopefully it stays like this now...

Well I don't know what's going on here in Victoria. I've just been to Nunawading Toyoyta. The mechanic came out for a test drive and was doing the usual Toyota spin. I said I would like the ECU reflash. He said if it's in the VIN range then we can do it.

We get back and off he goes to check the computer to see if mines in the VIN range. What he said when he came back floored me. He said there is no bulletin on the Prado in relation to an ECU reflash only the 200 series.

Why would he say about the VIN range then after jumping on the computer, say there isn't one?

I asked why is it available in other sates? He suggested that because Toyota head Office is in NSW that they keep it close to home and then farm it out.

So it would appear that you only get the re-flash if you've had the new design injectors put in, in NSW!!!

Has anyone in Victoria got any sense from a dealer yet?

I agree, it doesn't hold true. I was being sarcastic. It just goes to show how you can't traust dealers and the crap that comes out of their mouths.

For what its worth and it may be nothing to do with this but we have a D4D here at work that had a rattle . The dealer thought it was an injector but turns out it was an engine mount...apparently , and this is what they said , the engine mounts operate on a vacuum , and because the vacuum wasn't working that caused the rattle i.e the engine was moving..they replaced the mount and we've had no problems , now done 18,000kms

The engine mount is another problem that is evident on the D4D Prados. Usually it is noticed by the car shaking when you pull up at the lights etc. I believe there is a thread on this problem as well.

Yep - I also had the enginer mounts replaced 2-3 weeks ago and it did help with the shaking (at lights, etc) but did not totally remove all the engine shaking until yesterday with the repalcement injectors/etc.

I had an injector replaced and ECU reflash (or reprogramming) done on mine in another Melbourne dealer. In short, the dealers are very much aware of the prado rattle issues, any other spin they give is hogwash!

hi everyone,

I have had the ECU re-flash done to the truck and have now done 1200km to clean out the carbon that has built up. It is a little bit quieter.......about 1%.

I am waiting on injectors to be delivered as they have agreed to replace all 4, and hopefully it will be soon and I can put an end to my 18 month / 23,000km saga.

I will keep you informed.

Well I started the Prado up today and my heart sank. I have a rattle developing again, bugger! It is only just noticeable at the moment but going from past experience I can expect it to grow in loudness.

There would be no point stealing you a new one.....knowing our luck this far we would pick the only lemon in the yard
