  • Injectors have always been considered s consumable part
No different to tyres and brakes

There is no set replacement kms, however "normal" use with
Good fuel does appear to maxing out around the 120-140k mark
There will be cases of much less and many more k's done
Feedback / idle volume / mileage and cold start noise are key points to monitor

        • Bought my '07 D4D in January 2015, from a country dealer. One owner, same dealership, etc, etc. 170k on the clock with a full service history.
Missed the letter from Toyota about injector seats, but started reading this thread last week.
Rang Toyota about it and they checked the VIN - injector seats not replaced yet, so advised to contact my local dealer. Booked it in for today. They checked the injectors as part of the 'Toyota Process' and advised that ALL injectors were out of spec and required replacement. I told them I had a set of Bailey's blueprinted injectors ready to go and they agreed to fit them at the time they did the seats. Called Bailey's today who have now sent me a set of these injectors - overnighted. Prado booked in for Monday to have them fitted. Dodged a bullet, methinks.

          • Good result stanmiko. See if they will check how blocked the oil pickup screen is while they are at it. If you have to pay for an oil change that is worth it in my view.

I have seen some 'interesting' pics of clogged up oil pickups. Been looking into this and have just been waiting on a result from Toyota. Gonna try the LIQUI MOLY Engine Detox with the existing oil (changed at 180k service, 3k ago) which is supposed to clear out any sludge and carbon from 'everywhere'. Will also try out some Penrite HPR Diesel 5, which is a 5W40 supposedly to assist with the cold starts.
Once that is done I will run the tank down to fuel light and start using a product called CRD Fuel Enhancer @ 10mL per 80L.

              • Ok, so picked up the Prado.
                Injector readings as follows:
                #1: 0.6
                #2: -2.1
                #3: -2.2
                #4: 3.5

So, in effect #2, #3 and #4 are FUBAR.
Quote from Toyota for injectors was $1,936 (Baileys $1,294). They also advised a new fuel filter @ $45.53 and, wait for it... drain, remove and clean out fuel tanks - 3hrs @ $121.00 / hr - total $363.00
Booked in for next Friday 12th June. Methinks I will be busy with 2 x fuel tanks this weekend... just saying...
I noticed that they have a separate calendar hanging on their wall for booking these CSE cases in... they allocate 2 x per day and June is already 2/3 taken, with the majority being Hilux's.
                Very interesting...

I don't believe Baileys will allow any form of additive to be used with their injectors.

p.s those injector numbers are pretty impressive - but not in a good way!

I have asked the question... let's see how they respond. I don't see any problem with it, as this additive actually improves the lubricity of the fuel which will retard the wear, as well as reducing corrosion in injectors and pumps. Dosage is just 10mL per 80L fuel.

At 36,000 odd KPa - doubt it.

Going by what I was told with MY readings, I would guess that YOUR #1 & #2 are definitely cactus.

If you are replacing two, you might as well replace the lot.

                              • Toyota will tell you that even 2.5 to 3.0 is OK. I was watching my original 2 injectors very closely after my rebuild in 2013. One of them started to move pretty quickly from 2.5 to 2.7 so I ditched all and fitted 4 new ones.
