    Hi Mav,
    Did the report indicate what was "Kaput" eg. failed bearings, failed seals, damaged rotating assembly, fouled guide vanes etc. I would be interested to find out.
    I hope it turns out OK for you. Hmmmm 200 series Aye! I have been doing a couple of mods to my mates new 200 V8TD GXL and was shocked how little you get when compared with the GXL Prado and there are some issues with the 1VD-FTV but still beautifull to drive.
    I don't have the report on me but from what I can remember it said that the bearings were stuffed, some solenoid was inoperative, and it was not producing any boost.

        My new turbo was approved today so hopefully it will be in the car by this Friday.

            That's good news there Mav. From memory your's is the same year as Masso's. I'm curious if his recent issue influenced Toyota in the descision to replace the Turbo.

              Actually Toyota refused to repair it, the extended warranty company were the ones that footed the bill for this one.

                  It was Toyota Corp that refused the repair, the local mob actually tried to get the repair accepted by Toyota Corp but they would not come to the party.

                      Okay I have my Prado back on the road, I had to wait in the service dept until 6:35 tonight but I finally have it back on the road. It does have a strong rubber burning smell coming from under the bonnet but it was dark when I got it back so have not had a look as yet to see what it may be. I will give it a once over in the morning to check things are tightened properly. I will have to add coolant as they told me that they did not have time to do it before handing it back tonight.

                      So fingers crossed we can get back to normal usage again.

                          So what did they do? Put nothing in there? Last time I checked coolant ran out of a bottle at approx the same speed as water ran out of a hose...

                          Makes me wonder sometimes... (Not havin a plug at you Mav - the dealer!)

                            Hope she's all fixed now Mav.

                            My turbo was replaced under warranty about a year ago. She had no boost. My local blokes just replaced it :?:

                              Well the new turbo is working nicely and I reckon there is a definite improvement in my fuel consumption too. I will know for sure next weekend when we set off for Brisbane via Pt Augusta and Dubbo.

                              It is having its 130,000 service on Wednesday.
