  • Liquid Injection LPG System???

Have you guys heard about the above? Anyone have it done on their 4wd??
Apparently a lot better then Sequential and only 5% extra gas usuag over petrol cost roughly around $5000 for the liquid system.
I think its still new in the market.. I have read on Ford Forums a number of guys in melb converting their XR6 etc over to this....

I don't think that the liquid injection systems are complianced for the Prado yet. Last I knew they were for the Territiory but I've not seen anything yet for the Prado.
Can't wait until they are though - the system looks great. Looks like they use the existing petrol injection system rather than tapping in new injector points. I would think that gas contamination would be an issue with the petrol injectors though.

I'm surprised there is not more interest in this. See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=96418 for a good discussion, and contributions from someone in the company that has licenced the patents for this to ICOM an Italian OEM of the product. There are 30,000 vehicles claimed to be using it in the EU.

For 4WD, the extra kw promised and the near equal fuel consumption to petrol, plus less maintenance in the system than gen 2 injection would seem to make it a winner.

It seems that Victoria is the only place to have a reasonable supply of installers at present. Anyone have any info on its entry into SE QLD?

G'day Dargan, the forum you referred to has a useful link to http://www.australianlpgwarehouse.com.au
From their contact page, it seems that Queensland is not even on their horizon.

Thanks Bear. I was happy to notice that Luckily mine is a 2005 07 VX so although I had the cash and was just ready to go for a Sprint gen 2 system or other here I am going to wait for a little while to see if I can fit this liquid injection system. If I find any other informaion I will post it here on this thread.

                Hi dargan,

I am installing the EUROGAS system to mine.
My installer said the liquid injection system will be available
later in the year but it will be very expensive ($10,000)
you get more power and better economy....

This is the only way you will ever see me install LPG on a vehicle of mine.

I will be very interested to see how much the system costs.

Comments I have seen have indicated that it should be a cheaper installation because there is less hardware involved. For example, the vehicles existing computer unit is used to time injectors, as it is a liquid like petrol when it enters the combustion chamber. It would not surprise me if the marketers got hold of it though and attempted to position it above the price of gen 2 systems. The early comments were that it should be $400 cheaper. I like the subsidy and would not install without it, but the suppliers are not stupid and find a price where they get a higher return than they could achieve in a free market. I definitely don't think it will be $10,000 though GXL05, more like $5K to differentiate in the market, and probably users will pay that as they will see a ROI that is better.

I spoke to a LPG installer in Wollongong and he said he might be able to install it on a 90 series prado... cost roughly around $5000 before the rebates

Does anyone know if it would be more or less difficult to install it on a 90 vs 120 series?

Dargan, just a question. With you on the Sunshine Coast and the nearest installer down round Sydney, there seems to be a logistical problem. I can see how it might be ok to travel to get the system, but then there is the matter of service and warranty if anything goes wrong. Do you have any ideas on that?

The reason I ask is i'm in much the same boat as you. But don't want to wait another 12 months for a small saving.

The Victorian group who have patented this have trained a number of people for Victoria and some in NSW from my knowledge so far. I am sure that before the end of the year the system will be available for us from the more common outlets in my area, or at the least Brisbane. Try chasing up some of the URL's provided. Any competent installer of the gen 2 system should be able to put this system in. If you look at the website it appears they even do final adjustment and analysis over the net. Volvo does this with its car tuning at present and probably other EU MV manufacturers. The beauty of this system, to repeat, is that it uses your existing ECU system. I am prepared to wait for it for that reason.
