Yes you only need to push the two clips in and pull on the connector....Have may have to depressurise the fuel system first.

Whats the best way of depressurising the fuel systems ? just loosen hose fitting on fuel line maybe??

I think you need to push the 2 yellow clips and pull up not down. Because the two yellow pieces clamps onto the fuel filter spindle.

          Hope this helps.

Sorry not to answer... didn't see your post until now. Better late than never.

Safest way to depressurise the fuel system is to start the engine and pull out the fuel pump fuse or relay... the engine will stall when it runs out of fuel.

              Re: FUEL FILTER CLIP

Sorry to bring up another old topic, but better this then starting another I guess.

Once the system has been depressurised the the new filter is on does it need to be primed etc? I have always owned TD Patrols and has a priming pump to fill the filter before starting.

              Thanks a heap

No, it'll self prime so to speak. It may be a little harder to start first time and/or run a little rough for a few seconds as the fuel system clears of air.

                    Hi,

Apologies for reviving an old post...I'd like a steer on how to remove the bottom hose on the fuel filter...which way to turn and or move the red clip, have attached a picture to clarify which clip I'm referring to.

                    Many Thanks,
                    .

                    .
Just replaced the orig picture with a better close-up of the clip.

I am also trying to undo the hose with the red clip. Dont want to accident use to much force and break it. Anyone know what the go with the clip is?

Got it, just need to peel the red clip back. The red clip itself has a little retainer and a "tooth" that clips to the hose.
Peel the retainer part back until the tooth detaches. Then pull the hose off

Gday, first post in here! Seems a like a really good forum, plenty of helpful knowledgable people.

I managed to drop that little red plastic clip chrisgrind posted in the photo above, and it must be lodged somewhere because I can't find it <facepalm>.
Anyone know if these can be bought easily anywhere? Otherwise will try Toyota parts...

                            Cheers

Yes tried to source the red clip from Toyota spare parts counter. Of coarse it only comes complete with the fuel line @ about $130.
Needless to say, it still remains in the Toyota parts wharehouse..
