Greets all,
What areas need to be definitely covered in the engine before I attempt an engine wash?
Its a kz turbo.

most of it should be fine just dont drownd the fuse box and relays. best done when the motor is cold. cheers samo

the air intake thingy for the turbo unit doesnt have to be taped over with plastic?

the air intake is up under the front right guard so it will be fine. cheers samo

The "grill" on top of the engine is just a radiator, its not open to the air, the air used in the engine for combustion goes through the air filter on the right from the air inlet under the wheel guard, across the engine to the turbo & then to the grill (intercooler), then into the engine.

The intercooler is cooled by the air coming in from the front of the car, up through & inside the bonnet & then down through the fins of the intercooler & out over the top of the engine.

Putting water onto the intercooler is the same as putting water onto your radiator, the water doesn't get inside it.....

Use a 4L weed sprayer with a 10:1 mix of CT18 to water, coat the entire engine bay, let it sit for 15 mins, hose off gently, note do not pressure wash off, result nice clean engine bay ready to get dirty again.

Have been using CT18 since 2003 and gurney it off, just be a little careful around the electrical box above L/H inner guard.
Never had any problems and still looks like new.
