Can anyone direct me to the article that detailed how you remove the drivers side rear panel.

get you fingers down near the rear door rubber and give it some gentle force, pull it towards you on the top corner, this will allow you at least get your hands down there to pull some wire through, i didnt take mine off, im just lazy

Do you really need to remove the side panel? I fitted an extra Aux socket below the OEM one without removing the side panel. I removed the tray fitted to the side panel behind the OEM Aux socket to gain access to the back, drilled a hole using a hole cutter for the new socket then removed the rubber trim on the rear of the rear drivers side passenger door frame. I was then able to feed a new cable through to the hole in the side panel then out through the new hole, fitted the new socket then put it back together.

I didn't want to remove the side panel as I had my custom drawers fitted and didn't want to remove them - it was all very easy withoujt removing the panel though.

From memory,

Remove cup holder one side inside of compart other side by gently lever out, but check for screws
as the maybe some. Also might need to remove aircon grill and check for screws.

Also check where rear seat brackets are as there might be blots there and possibly seat belt fittings.

From memory also the rear door rubber at the bottom.

You may also need to remove sill plastic but not sure as I had those out at the time.

Then lever panels out from the bottom, there are several clips that hold on quite tight so helps
if you have small hands and can get then up behind the panel to help it out. Generally if your applying
that much pressure that you think something will break there's probably a hidden screw!
