    Hi,

finally found what's making all that squeaking noise. First two pictures show this metal part above the OI recovery points bolt+nut. First two photos show drivers side and the other two passenger's side.

Firstly I don't know what that metal bit does?? Seem like they put it in at the bullbar recall or could have been there from new. I'm off to toyota tomorrow to get them to fix this however:

    1. do i need these metal (silver metal cubes)?? if so what do they do?
    2. when fixed do i argue about them giving me a new radiator (still under warranty) as passenger's side has a dent to it (roughly around 3-4mm) or it won't effect the radiator at all.

Radiator is my main concern obviously as i dont want to loose coolant + cook the engine

Is that a square head bolt or a cage nut? Got a pic from the recovery point side?

The metal cube has a bolt at the other end with no nut, no wonder it came out. The bolt on the recovery side sticks out by 5mm or so and is not attached to anything. It goes thru a factory hole

From the bullbar fitting instructions of the original bar (http://www.myswag.org/gallery/d/2915...structions.pdf), that metal cube looks like the chassis pin (page 4). Perhaps the new bracket does not require the use of the chassis pin anymore ??

The cube (bar) is the nut the chassis pin of the bull bar moutning bolts screw into. They are sticking out to far and needed to be moved over slightly before the bolt was torqued.

          Cheers

Thank you, and since nothing is attached to this bolt with the new bullbar mounts it is not needed?
Also would u tell toyota to replace the radiator or it will be fine?

No I don't think that's correct, when I was crawling around under
mine the other day I'm sure I remember seeing that the centre
was still there and used for the new brackets.

If there is any abrasive marks on the radiator I would be asking
them to change it or at least note on the vehicles history (get a copy
for yourself) in the case it should leak later.

              Cheers

                Hi Peter

After you phone call this morning, went out and had a look at mine they are there and agree with LieghW- yours are sticking out too far. Mine only stick out about 2-3mm with plenty of gap to the side of the radiator.

Bit of an update, just came back from mr toyo and the news is those pins were used by the old bullbar mounts and are no longer required. They wrote on paper that due to their mistake there is a dent in the radiator (nothing major) so if anything comes out of it later I will be covered. It is ur call guys but if its not needed I'd be removing them (easy job)

I'll check on the weekend for you but I'm sure they have been replaced
                    on my new brackets.

                    Cheers

Had exactly the same problem after the Soveriegn recall. Toyota told me it was a captive nut and would wear through the plastic radiator tank if not fixed.

When I picked the car up they were generous enough to tell me they wouldn't charge me for the repair. Lucky me

haha! yes mine was "free" service as well. Although I'm not sure if i should get them to replace the side tank or not. I measured a 2mm dent, doesnt look too bad
