  • Loss of cruise contol when engaged

While dirving at 60ks in cruise control, cruise control disengaged with out any help from me. Has this occurred to any other 06 Prado 3 litre turbo diesel

I find problem when i resume sometimes it works sometime it won't.
The book says that once you drop below 40kph it will lose the setting.

It also won't work below that speed.

The 40kph cut off is pretty standard with all cruise controls, this has been the same in my commodores and falcons.

Yep mav, same in alot of my other cars.
But like i said sometimes it will resume without dropping below that 40kph and sometimes it don't.

I am not sure if it has a certain time also before it won't resume.

That sounds like a definite fault and I would get it checked under warranty. The CC should always resume its set sped when the resume button is pressed so long as the car is travelling above the 40kph threshold.

            Mine does the same,

Every now and then it decides NOT to resume when you hit the lever back up.???

Did a 1300klm trip last week and it did it about 6 times all told.

                Cruise Control Disengaging

Cruise Control disengaging at 60 kph. This occured when cruising , not slowing down below 40kph. This has occured on my 2006 Prado 3 litre diesel

How far below your set speed is this 60km/h? As Warby said, bear in mind the cruise control will quit if your actual speed falls too far below your set speed, if you are going up a hill in 6th for example. From memory the tolerance is quite narrow on the Toyota.

Mine is Auto not sure how far i drop in speed before it sometimes doesn't resume.
I just know that it has done this when i don't drop belw 40kph.
So you could be right, might have something to do with dropping to far below set speed.

Yep that is generally the two criteria for disengagement of the cruise function. Below 40kph and if speed drops below set speed by more than 12 kph.

I have the same issue. You can cancel the cruise control as you approach a roundabout (for example), get past the roundabout (whether you get below 40kph or not) hit resume (above 40kph) and sometimes it will re-engage sometimes it doesn't.

Sometimes you can cancel cruise control as you approach a red light (so you drop below 40ph) and sometimes when you hit resume (always above 40kph) it will work and sometimes it doesn't.

So I too will be taking this up with my dealer in the near future.

If you get below a certain speed then it will cancel the original set speed. I'm not sure what the speed is that it cancels itself out at, but I know everytime I stop or get below a certain speed (maybe 20-30k's) I then can't resume.!

The minimum speed is 40 kph.

Yup minimum speed for being able to activate the cruise control is 40kph. However you cant resume the original set cruise speed even over 40 if the speed at any point drops under a certain speed.! I'll check it out tomorrow but I know for sure if I stop at a red light and then get back upto speed I cant resume the cruise. I've got a feeling anything under 20-30k cancels any settings.
