Mate my 120 is the best i have owned wouldn't buy another car, when mine is at its time i'll buy another 120. Best looking prado by far. Everytime i take it off road i am learning more and more. Its still on stock suspension and still goes pretty bloody good for a stock car. You wont look back mate. When i buy again i'll get a d4d auto in white or silver. Only a auto because im getting over manual cars and would prefer it for steep hills gets a bit annoying on and off the clutch.

To be honest I reckon there a shit idea as the reception compared to my 90's is shocking and if you put metal window tint film over the top it makes them worse although in the VX, and grande 120's you have privacy glass anyway so no need to tint except front driver and passenger window or I think it looks odd.Cheers Steve
That is why i put an external aerial out front on the bullbar as i got sick of crap reception up here in the hills, works a treat now.

Mate I have had my 09 GXL D4D auto for 3 months now and I am very very happy with it

I reckon the V6 would be a very strong motor

As for looks inside and out in my opinion the 120 has it over the 150 hands down

Like I said only my opinion

Bought a 4 litre Auto 2004 VX a few months back. It has done 240,000km. I reckon the vehicle drives and looks like the day it was first delivered and you'd be hard to spot any changes from new (Had this experience with Toyota's in general). The engine has not used any oil/water or shown any signs of wear in the past 3000km and the guy who fitted the lpg (who is also a first class mechanic) said that these were an excellent vehicle with a motor (particulary the head) that was built very well. If you consider that they use the same motor with a supercharger on them in the TRD Hiluxes etc. then the motors must be built sufficiently strong which when used in the Prado it's a walk in the park for them :-). I opted for the VX because I wasn't sure how the air suspension (and sun-roof)would go over time and the costs associated with replacing anything that broke. From all accounts of what I have experienced, heard and seen it appears that you can't go wrong. Must say that the economy so far on the 4 speed auto has not been as good as what Steve and some otheres are getting on the 5 speed. Jurgs

Going to the Snowys this weekend and just filled up both tanks so will see how the economy goes. No real load and I doubt I'll be locking centre diff lock unless extremely slippery but there wont be any low range stuff lol so basically freeway driving...........Cheers Steve

Had my 2003 GXL since new, now with 183,000 klms up, and over 100,000 of that with a 2 tonne PLUS van behind. Bit of a slug as standard but as good as the D4D with the chip installed.
Only problems were bullbar recall, brake booster recall, and over filling of both diffs and gearbox oils by dealer. As others have stated here, best vehicle I have owned, and happy I have the slug and not the D4D with it's injector problems.
Will hang onto the slug until I am satisfied that the problems have been fixed for good or a new motor replacement for the 3 ltr.

Hi Jurgs, just joined as previously had a Pathie until recently. Looking at 2004 5 speed update v6 with 227k km. can you give me an idea of what you got yours for? This one has is a Grande but not bullbar etc, stock. Thanks in advance! Also anything you reckon i should watch for with higher km Prado's when buying?

                      Hi morkw,

Got mine for $21,000 privately which I thought was pretty good. The 5 speed and being a grande may fetch a bit more. I opted for the vx because I wasn't that keen on the leather and airbags as I was over time going to set car up for more rugged off road use ie. Lift etc. Took car out along a power line track on weekend in stock form and it performed as expected. DAC slowed car to almost a stop downhills and traction control got car wherever I tried (will try something harder next time but was just familiarising myself). Have had nothing but good reports about the v6 and I have to date had zero issues to report. If u read some of the reports on this forum the biggest problem appears to be cracked dashes. Some of the longer term owners of this site may have some further things to look for. Good luck with your choice

Jurgs, thanks for the info, they are asking $28k but i suspect there is some wriggle room. I saw the forums about the dashes and this one looks in A1 condition. We would be using the Prado for towing the caravan and to/work mostly. Was comcerned at the higher levels of km's, but your feedback is reassuring, and i just spoke on of the guys at work who is a "cars" man and he reckons he knows people with Prado's with over 400k km and going strong. All comes down to service history and treatment. Thanks for your help!

There was a problem with leaking seals in master cylinder / booster area. They replaced the booster kit from memory.
