Water Inside Cabin - Front Passenger's Seatbelt Wet

Hi,

Noticed today that front passenger's seatbelt was wet, water must be geeting in cabin via roof rack mounts?

Anyone else had this problem?

I had this problem just after I fitted my roof rack. Figured it had to be coming in through the mounts I removed each bolt and covered with a pipe/thread sealant and re-fitted. I havent had a problem since.

Good one - no other place the water could be getting in hey!

I'll give teflon tape a go and see if that fixes it.

When I had that problem on my KZ, I took a look at the mounts behind the interior lining and found that they had been leaking for a while and rust had formed on several of the mounts.
Only a small job to wire brush and paint them but as I was carrying a roof rack on the mounts I was lucky that I found the rust. Hat to had the mounts give way while on the road!

Get it fixed quick smart if its the roof rack bolts, it can run along and str8 onto the computer $$$$

I wouldnt use teflon tape but use locktite thread sealer instead.

I squirted silicone around the mount holes when I installed mine....did the trick nicely
I think this is what the Arb instal guide said to do

I don't know if applying anything to the bolts or inside the sleeves will fix the problem. I recall that the bolt fixes into a plastic sleeve. I suspect the water may be able to get between the metal body and the plastic sleeve. The stock roof rail foot has rubber pads that are supposed to seal over the top of this. I suggest you undo the bolt and apply a bead of silicone around the sleeve, then tighten up the bolt again. My build thread has lots of pictures covering this.

And as #### said, sort it out quickly because the computer is in one of the B pillars. Good luck.

Was okay till my SON removed and replaced the racks!

What racks did you replace it with? If replacing with a Rhino rack, the kit comes supplied with an O-ring that goes around the plastic sleeve mentioned above. This stops water getting into the pillars.
