  • Hi All,
I have just had my 120 fitted out with a Hilux bonnet scoop and a rear spoiler. I will post photos as soon as I get some daytime shots.
The work was carried out by C.N.H. Smash Repairs in Seven Hills - 02 9674 5915. Very professional installation.
I also feel that there is a slight performance gain with the scoop.

      • I have been deciding if I should/ justify installing a hood scoop. I have acquired a free GU Pootrol scoop, which just needs to be painted and installed. I am thinking it would be around the 250 mark for a panel beater to do this for me. After seeing all these photo's I think the answer is a yes.

Thanks again PP, making that hole in my wallet even bigger...

I had several Toranas, including an SS too. I like the look of the bonnet scoop on a Prado, but I can't justify fitting one to a V6.

            • Cost for the job approx;-
              Rear spoiler $150
              Bonnet scoop $150
Labour including additional painting of inside rear door, and one or two other minor bits, cutting, fitting & wiring $600.
Also painted under the scoop in matt black as it looked better than leaving it in white.

I loved my Torana, sold it to pay for the wedding good thing we are still married 20 years later.

Pics when I got it, when I rebuilt it, and the day I sold it to a young girl who then destroyed it

Hibbo, you know if you put a Nissan scoop on you loose 10HP and use more fuel, and get ragged on at the GTG!

                Cheers Andrew

Unless I get a supercharger and mount the intercooler above the engine...

                        • gday guys,
just thinking out loud here so i am keen to hear some feed back on this idea; i have been researching airflow over bonnets, under bonnet temps etc for about a week now and i am considering installing a scoop, well in fact 2. My thinking is that rather than place one directly over the intercooler, add 2: more forward and on either side of the bonnet, that feed into the factory underbonnet airflow channels. The reason that i am thinking this is that when the scoop is directly over the intercooler there is the possibility that the air coming in is disrupting the flow of air that is already moving through under the bonnet.

                          anyone have thoughts on this?

                          thanks in advance, Scott.

I am running a V6, and have been looking for a alternative. To the snorkel.....

I am running the k&n filter and power plugs... And love the Idea of cold air induction to feed the V6 with nice cool air...

Yesterday I seen a Navra ute that had a black bonnet scoop that would look nice on my rig.... The ute was about a '90 model..

I have a idea of utilising the air flow space on the right side of the radiator that with a little effort could be used to direct cold air into the air inlet tube but , cosmeticlly the narva scoop would look good ... Cheers butane

                            • So the next time you go through a creek crossing and get a bit of water over the bonnet, you'll drown your Prado? I'm sorry I dont really see the advantage
                              Can't we just keep travelling?
