I still wonder why mine doesn't even have the circlips either side ?? And looks like they were never there??..... Cheers Steve
I've long since got rid of my sovereign bar, but I did remove it once to repair it after the father In law backed into it and took a gouge out of the tube. If I remember correctly I didn't have the circlips either, as AMTS said, if the bolts are tight then the clips aren't needed.
Cheers Andrew

ok, so I'm pleased to advise that my vehicle made it back to Brisbane and was totally repaired by Toyota at no expense to me.
out of respect for the dealership taking ownership and covering my repair costs, I wont name them as the likely cause of the poor workmanship or missed work steps in the first place which caused my issue.
however, I would like to thank Peter in the Toyota Japan design and tech centre in Melbourne for going beyond his role and putting me in contact with the senior people in Toyota Australia to get this sorted. what a champion!
also I must thank David at Toyota Qld for his support, and also the dealership for approving all the repairs to my vehicle without argument or nitpicking over responsibility and liability.
I nearly got stuck in the middle of a bush track at Fraser with the mrs and 3 small kids, had I not looked under the vehicle when I did - don't take a chance it wont happen to you.
it goes without saying that you should ALL check for this issue proactively, and where you find the bolts and clips missing, alert your local dealership - they will need to get the proper mounting kit ordered in, and take your bar off and insert - about 3hrs work, or so.
also thanks pjorek for your offer - tried to PM you, but your box is full.

3hrs is way over the top. If the chassis pin is in place but the radiator is OK, it is only a matter of putting the bolts in. There is no need to take the bar off.

Good to hear! I've had the letter scanned but no email address to send it to. Glad you didn't need it!
you would know better than me mate - although I cant see how the bolts can go in to the pins without taking the bar off.
maybe an hour then - either way, everyone should check theirs
There's a hole in the center of the bullbar bracket. Insert the bolt through this hole and find the mating thread in the chassis pin. Ensure the chassis pin is in contact with the sides of the holes in the chassis. Torque up. Repeat for other side.
Hi .Just another example of this issue. I had my Sovereign Bar replaced with an ARB deluxe winch bar by a local 4x4 accessories supplier .They left the chassis pins in, one of which has now worn a hole through the driver’s side radiator tank.

The hole is on the rear face of the bullbar bracket, the one in contact with the chassis. I also have the winch cradle and the hole I mentioned has a bolt that screws into the chassis pin.
Hi,
I did the install yesterday of a 2nd hand Sovereign bar with a mechanic mate. It came with everything but the chassis pins and circlips. I know that its been discussed that the pins need to be in there, but my question is are they essential? What happens if the bar is installed without the pins?
