Went to the dealer today and spoke to the service manager who I have known for years. He indicated that they were "Gearing up for it", his words. Mine is booked in for a 4 hr recall inspection first week of Nov. he will also swap my WDH for a genuine Toyota item, part of the recall apparently.

Dunno. I guess if a trailer is disconnected completely, the drawbar will dig into the road surface and slow down. It might smash into oncoming traffic if it happens around a left hand bend or hit cars on the next lane on any bend. I'm guessing there's certain criteria that needs to be met before it needs to be in the Recall website.

Mines having the 90,000 service done on Thursday. I wasn't going to have it dealer serviced but after reading this thread called Toyota. Gave them my rego and first thing they told me was that there's a recall, without me even mentioning it. Just a check apparently, and they'll order the parts if they need to after checking[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

Ours has been in twice in the last week, first time checked bolts under bumper, second time they replaced the bolts and the towbar housing. Now they have order a new WDH which I will exchange for our old shepherds crook style WDH, will keep the HR WDH for the ute.Live One Day at a Time for Tomorrow May Never Come

Hi All,
I too have just my Toyota Dealer, and they have advise me that mine is also due for checking.Letter from Toyota hasn't arrived as yet.
They said to allow 2-3 hours for it.
As I need to get the Outside Temperture sensor replaced for the A/c System, (it reads anywhere between normal and -30, but mainly -20 to -30, which causes the heater to run at max heat) both will be done together next week.

Here's the contents of the CSE provided by my local dealer
"BACKGROUND
Toyota has decided to initiate a Customer Service Exercise to inspect and if necessary correct the Toyota genuine accessory tow bar and mountings that may have been affected by incorrect use of aftermarket load distribution. Clarify the owner’s manual towing instructions, offer to exchange the aftermarket load distribution hitch with a genuine unit and provide a copy of the Toyota towing guide for future reference .
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Customers who use aftermarket load distribution hitches (LDH) when towing and incorrectly operate the vehicle with the LDH engaged, such as when traversing over steep driveways, spoon drains or large undulating road surfaces may experience the tow bar mounting bolts loosening and in some circumstances result in damage or breakage of the tow bar tongue or hitch receiver. This condition may result in a low speed separation of the caravan or trailer from the vehicle."
And the process is
The recall will always be a two step process for normal customers, we can order the bolts which every vehicle requires then once inspected we can order the load distribution hitch if required.
