So bought the 2009 Prado 2 years ago and took the sales pitch on Carzoos extended warranty where you can get it serviced at any of the dealers doing Carzoos. Bow Bow. This is where I should have looked deeper. What that means is you need to be in Brisbane or very very close to it to maintain the warranty.
I have been relocated with work to Hervey Bay and thought no probs I will just book in at local Toyota Dealer as they will be all using these extended warranty packages. Wrong. Thought this won't be a drama will just ring them and see how we sort this. Long short answer later is I need to drive 2 hours to Sunshine Coast and then wait for half a day for service then drive 2 hours back. Only option.
So my feedback to "dealer principal" who called is are you telling me (10 year qualified mechanic) that the Toyota dealer here is rubbish in Hervey Bay and if I get it book serviced by them it is unsafe for my vehicle and voids my warranty? Are they using non genuine parts and non trained techs? Do you want me to come all the way to your Holden dealer on the Sunshine Coast and pay $500 for a 2nd year to muck around with my car? Ok well if I am qualified and use genuine parts bought from you can I service it as I know my car better than your teenagers and will do it properly?
I even offered that if I pay $50 extra for local dealer to provide report to them on the service as it will save my missus and me the hassle of losing the family car for a day 2+ hours away.
In the end I said well this is where we part ways as customer and service provider but I will add I will be buying a Hilux this year and swapping the Prado next year for a new one and AP Eagers group will not be on my list. I am also making sure every known man knows about this too.
In todays consumer has many choices land i'll void the warranty but AP Eagers and Carzoos are top of the S^&t list now.
