Hi there Stockgtr hey thanks for the info re the thud as far as the damper settings go i allways have it in the sport or hard setting i dont like the feel of the soft setting on tarseal it feels unsafe at speed to me.Your name STOCKGTR are you a Skyline fan? Hi there guys just to let you know i still do not have the truck back yet now 14 days i think we can say that this dealer Sucks. My phone calls dont get returned it seems that no one seems to care after spending $70000 bucks i expect better service tomorow i will ring TOYOTA Aust and stir the pot. All i want is some answers and have the truck repaired at the moment its a pile of junk why should we accept things if they are not right. I have been in the car industry for more than 35 years building race cars and specail vehicles.I can say that my custmers are treated in a very diffrent way. I know that the faults that i have listerd should not be there even the top mechanic at this large dealership said that it is not right but he can not say to much. I will find out whats going on and let you all know. Toyota sell 16,000 Pardos a year maybe Toyota dont want people to know about the 4x4 wind up fault oops said to much there. regards Skycat :x

Grande faults

Hi guys got the truck back today after 16 days. Now this is for a 10,000 km service plus my list of faults all five of them, Well they did the service replaced the missing badges and said they would replace the fuel tank they say this is the thud when you stop.I dont think so but i will let them replace it, As for the other issues the man from TOYOTA has asked for a meating they want to road test the truck with me i gess they are going to say sorry mate its all normal we cant help you. We will weight and see By the way the truck came looking like it had been to the TOYOTA proving groung at least they could have given it a wash this dealer sucks sorry to say the sager goes on :roll: :roll: regards Skycat

Prado faults

Hi there well the saga continues .The Toyota guy has yet to drive the truck the dealer has put me off four times saying the guy has to much on at the moment .I have to say that Toyota sucks as bad as the dealer.Hay how good are these Prados ?or are we being brainwashed because it has the Toyota badge on the front. I am shocked and pissed off that TOYOTA cant be botherd to try and sort out my truck,all the service guys are nice to talk to but i feel that they have no idea how to fix things if its more than a service dont get me wrong we still own three other Toyotas but after spending $140,000 with this dealer you should expect SERVICE.I will keep pushing and i will get what i want which is what i paid for.

prado faults

Well the meeting went OK the man from Toyota went through my list with the service manager and myself it seems that most are real faults not me being just to fussy.The engine and trans noise have been noted with the vin number / wty this is if they fail it will be sorted out ,there is no answer about the thud when you stop we no its not the fuel tank as it will do it when the tank allmost empty the guy is saying that it is to do with the 4x4 system we will see, as for the vibes through the steering wheel there is a shock / damper kit that Toyota Aust have developed for the Prado these are a rubber mount thing that they bolt to the front diff, the steering shaft, the front drive shaft and other places around the truck this they say will sort that out plus the drive shaft slip joint is lubed with copper grease, they say that they rate the vibes 4 out of 10. Gee i would hate to have 10 out of 10 so maybe we are on the way to sorting out the list of faults. God i hope so all this work will be done over the next week or so i will let you all know the out come. At least they are now tryiny as they did around 100km road testing Skycat :wink:

Vibration

Co-incidence - co-incidence - read my posting tonite under heading Engine Vibration"
Skycat - you are the first one I have encountered during the past year with the vibration problem - thought I was going mad. Mine is like a fine "pins and needles" feeling - comes on strong between 1500 and 2000RPM - very annoying and I became very crapped off with my prado particularly when I was told that it was not there. Finally today at the 20k service they acknowledged and now my car is to be assessed to see if it has the correct symptoms following which they will fit a damper kit or somthing.
Keep up the complaining - no use writing to Toyota as they dont reply.

Well got the truck back today after having the damper kit fitted sorry to say the the vibe is worse than before :cry: when i picked the thing up the service guy said she is 90% OK no more vibes.When we got home I rang the dealer and spoke to the service guy who spoke to the man from Toyota they seem to have no idea. But i have to say at least they are trying to sort out the faults i just wish the bull shit would stop if they cant fix it they should say.So here we are its now 6 months old and has done 10,000km i can say that so far it is the worst TOYOTA i have owned i am still hope full it can be fixed eather by Toyota or my company workshop if not i will sell it regards Skycat

Failures of my prado

Sorry for my english I'm not so good in some terms, that explains part of cars. I have 3.0D with AT 4sp, model 2004 (pruchased in Dec 2003). I have many problems, but these are most annoying.
1) after some water crossing I found, that air filter was wet, problem was solved by installing safari snorkel. More details about "not so good designed" air flow here http://www.lcool.org/technical/120_s...ingestion.html I had original "plastic" front bumber. Of cource, now is replaced by saharabar from ARB. No compliancy from delaer/importer = no warranty
2) steering wheel, the color or what start to peeling from steering wheel. Replaced by warranty.
3) cup of homokinetic joint, from uknown reason 2 times torn, no compliancy from dealer. No warranty
4) wheel bearing at 70tkm. Failure of wheel bearing. Replaced. No warranty. Importer said, that this failure is caused by OME shocks.
5) huge failures of the motor starter. Car doesnt start. When I turn key, some noise such a pin pulled out but starter not work. Failure happens randomly, but dealer saw the symptoms but dont know how to resolve.
6) minor problems such as strange noise from driver seat under temperature -10C, broken (i dont know the correct name for this) screws on wheel, where the rim is mounted etc.

Well TOYOTA rang today it seems they have a new idea they want to remove the toyota bull bar, they say it is like a gaint tuneing fork and this could be causing the problem.I gess we will see, just more bullshit along the road of new car ownership :roll: regards Skycat
