Cracked dashboard

Thanks for the great info here guys. I bought my Prado new in 2005. Still only done 88,000 kms and dash was perfect until about 6 months ago. Using the info provided here I went to see my local Toyota dealer and they have just fitted a new dash for the cost of labour ($389). Very happy with the result.

I think I'm starting to crack a lot faster than my dash is . Now where did I put my rubber beanie and home enema kit .

Just seen the same cracks on an 06 120series starting from the right air vent to the gauge cluster onto the center air vent across the glove box .Worked for Toyota for several years ,first time i have seen this on a 120 series

my 04 120 series has cracks from right air vent to left air vent! whole dash is cracked....

Well guys is there some consensus on a cutoff year model or should we all be wary of this?

I'm just wondering if Toyota changed the composition of the dash plastic at some stage.

so far there's cracks from 04 05 06 for sure but the more you read into it , the year models could go either way . mines 05 but is very minor , but i know its there, butane

2004 GXL TD here. initial crack near drivers side air on vent a number of years back but I didn't take notice as it wasn't a huge issue.
Dash cracked acrsoss the top of the instrument cluster before Christmas. haven't been to Toyota yet as its a long way out of warranty.
I do have a dash mat and no cracking on top or towards air bag though

2003 GXL 120. Just noticed hairline crack across r/h half of speedo area on the leading edge. Damn, the only place not covered by the dash mat which has been in since new. 189,000 k's and going strong.

Mine's an 03 are they are all affected too! I spoke to a Toyota dealer and a dashmat does little in his opinion. Even with a new dash he said they were a waste of time. Still, if it gives one peace of mind go for it! I believe it's something to do with the composition of the plastic mix, however keeping it clean will help!! I doubt it will happen to the new Prado's tho??
