Cracked dashboard

Good news for me prado people iv got a 04 prado and I just had the call to say it's been approved by toyota to get the dashboard replaced it will take up to 3-4 weeks for it to come from Japan. It all started when I sent toyota aus a private msg on FB telling them that I had called up 2 dealer in Melbourne and the I basically got told if over 10 years it won't be replaced. I received a msg back from the asking for the VIN and rego also contact number. I then received a call asking about it and I told them what happened and it happened last Christmas when I noticed the crack. I was asked if a dealer has seen it i said no so I was asked if I could take it to a dealership for inspection and ask which toyota I was going to take it which is cranbourne toyota and she give them a call to let them know I was bringing it. I took it in and they guy said just so i know anything over 10 years won't get replaced and I stated in knew that but I was asked to bring it in the guy did what he had to and said he be in touch which was yesterday . Now today I received a call saying toyota has approved it to get replaced so I'm 1 happy camper. But if possible please don't mention my name if you are going to try this just in case they changed there might do until it's replaced ok. Good luck don't for get mine is a 2004 prado and it's getting replaced

Yes it did I just picked up the car then and got a brand new dashboard. I asked them do they know why my car was accepted under warranty the service guy has no idea why and said I just must be lucky. I'm one very happy customers now but I didn't get my hope's up until I picked up the car and knowing it was done as iv read that they have changed there minds before.

Good luck mate all you can do is try. Just don't expect much put if they approve it that's good i didn't have much hope even when I was told it was covered until I picked up the car knowing it was done. They probably ask as few questions and they you to take to a Dealership to have a look at it

Where did you get it done at? And who did you contact to sort it? I've an '04 model and has "the crack"

It was toyota Australia I private msg them in FB and when they contacted me they ask where I would take it i told them cranbourne toyota and they would give the a call to let them know I was coming. In saying that you care hasn't been inspected before and the crack was about 10-20cm long

November I do all my own service car done 285000ks iv had it since 120000ks and it's only been serviced once by toyota when I needed the timing belt done other then that it's only been at toyota for the recalls

Yes doesn't hurt to try you've got nothing to loze but a new dashboard to gain. Good luck and be nice you never know unless you try

I've just been knocked back by the 'guest experience' team, who claim no knowledge whatsoever of the 10 year rule and of any dashboards being fixed outisde of the 3 year warranty. They completely refute that people like Bprado will have got theirs approved by them. They did say it was on a case by case basis but would only state that that would be determined by such factors as its Toyota service history and ownership. I noticed above Bprado claims to service himself so unless hes a liar then that seems unlikely to be the case!

Infact this is what they just emailed me:

Within the Warranty period Toyota will repair or replace, at its discretion, any original equipment Toyota components found to be defective under normal use and operation in Australia. Outside of the warranty period assistance may possibly be offered, however this is determined case by case and many different variables are taken into consideration, e.g. age of the vehicle, km on the vehicle, vehicle ownership, service history.

We are sorry to advise that due to the fact your vehicle has now well exceeded warranty parameters we are unable to provide financial assistance.

Mate, I didn't mean to imply that you are a liar, far from it, I meant that Toyota are claiming that we the 'out of Warranty community' are mistaken for believing that there is any rule for cars up to 10 years and also that any cars outside of that can ever be fixed, they are ignorant of the fact people across the country communicate these days. Infact when I last went to the dealers the guy their scoffed that I shouldn't believe anything on forums (in order to dismiss me), many of them are quite arrogant about this so I did ask the customer rep for specifics of why they would not grant mine yet have been definitely granting others fixed, but she said it wasn't true and sent me the vague email I posted above.
