Likewise here in Jamaica. From 03-08 seem to all have the problem. I have been speaking to the dealer here about what actions they will be taking.
If it is not to my suit I intend to sue.

after much perserverance I got a new dash fitted today, 100% parts and labour. Very happy with the outcome, but wish it had not taken so long, and not needed so many phone calls and visits to Toyota to make it happen. Thanks to all those who have provided advice.

Bloody marvelous!! I'm just up the hill from you, so I'd like to know which dealer finally 'cracked' and manned up???
My dash has a split full width, and numerous tributaries branching off at every turn...

It isn't that they 'cracked' it's just that they put a better case forward to Toyota (who have to pay for parts etc). Ken Mills Maroochydore were very dismissive and didn't give a rats, they'll never get business from me again.
You should be able to get 100% on the dash and labour if you keep hassling them

Got in the Prado today and above the clock and all the way along to the drivers door is cracked, and various other little ones around the place. Rang Toyota Cairns and they have heard of this and I was advised "we look at it on a case by case basis, you bring your car in, we get photos of it and send to Toyota (somewhere else?) and they assess it. Normally you pay 50%". Definitely don't think I should be paying 50% given this site and 20 pages of people with the same problem; clearly it's a problem with Toyota not me.
They shut early today, so am going in on Wednesday to get the photos done. Will keep you all updated with what they reckon. I'm not paying 50%. They want to charge me labour, how bout the time and inconvenience this is costing me!!

                • Yep count me as one too. Dec 05 GX here.
I am positive there were none 2 weeks ago when I cleaned the inside and now I have them around the vents and glovebox. The Dry season has just hit up here so I wonder if the change in humidity set it off? It's certainly not the heat as its been a Kimberley car all it's life

                  • Have just put in an appeal to Toyotas decision to pay 50% of the parts only, with a cost to me of about $700.

                    • Success! I've only got to pay $266 to have my dash replaced. As soon as the part arrives it's getting done!

                        • My dash has got considerably worse in the 12 months since wannawodka2 posted my photo's. i'd put it in the too hard basket as i didn't see much point. I haven't logged onto the forum for some time and am significantly heartened by the recent post. I'll be heading to bridge toyota in darwin on monday to see what they say. Fingers crossed

                          • 41 pages..what a read.!! Add another 03 Grande to the list.
I wasn't even aware of it being a common problem till I read this just now. I've also noticed the same crack appear about a month or 2 ago, running from right air vent and across the top of the instrument cluster. Thinking about hitting up the local dealer after reading of some positive outcomes. Well done to those who took the fight to the top!
