Cracked dashboard

I spoke to Toyota today and they told me the same thing! They said they would take photo's of it and get back to me, so who knows! However he did say there was a right up about it in the paper and according to an article on drive.com a couple of days ago the new 150 series is having the same problem!!

Hi there paddy81, yes they mentioned the prado again but for memory the lady was talking about her 120 but the paper put a picture of the 150, never heard of any 150's going yet and if that was the case toyota will be outlaying some huge $$$ for warranty claims in such a short time the 150's been out. Anyway hope you get the ok on it, let us all know how you get on......Cheers Steve

Went to Peter Kittle Toyota today to get the photos taken and just got a call that Toyota rejected it and offered nothing, zip, nada...
The service guys also claims that this is the first they have come across a cracked dashboard. Anyone else been there prior to today?

Id be printing every page up on here and take it with you including all the pictures and tell them their full of shit then go to another dealer and try your luck in a nice way armed with the pics and the 52 pages...can only try, try again, then again I would be contacting today tonight or a current affairs and give them the full story and pics the lot. Im suprised this never happened with the ZD30 patrols and this was talking big $$. There all as bad as each other. When I worked for Toyota and we had the Lexcens then same as commodore the VS model with the first of the ecotec motors were chewing through oil before the 10k services they were that bad, they did a recall, customer would bring car in, we would pull the dipstick out whack a new one in with the oil level mark moved up the dipstick then whack another litre of oil in to bring it up full on the dipsticks new full level mark, this was enough to get it to the next 10k service if it ran out of oil and you had done more then 10k as per service schedule, guess what ?? bad luck ...........Oh what a feeling.Cheers Steve

I don't think I can take my car to another dealer. As soon as I gave the rego number, all my details (VIN, chassis,engine, paint colour) came up. I've never taken the car to Peter Kittle before and the rego was an Adelaide one. It was registered in NSW previously as there was where I got it from. The last visit to Toyota was at Rockdale to do the bullbar recall. I asked how all those details came up and they said from Toyota's central database.

So I doubt that if I tried another dealer, I would get a better response. Toyota HQ should have all the details of today's submission already. It didn't take them long to reply either, just 2 hours. They probably just saw that the car is 8+ y.o. and didn't look into it further.

I just had a voicemail left from Torque Toyota saying that Toyota has come back with a response. The warranty girl has gone home for the day so we'll see what they say tomorrow when they call me back. Fingers crossed but I wont hold my breath!

Well the response was No. Why they couldn't just leave that as a message for me I will never know. Toyota in Melbourne rejected the appeal totally.

Assholes,assholes, thats what they are, my bloody 89 hilux with over 300 thou on it doesnt have a crack in the dash and still doesnt at 23 years old. I dont have the issue YET but no doubt by the sounds of it only a matter if time before I do. I wont hesitate to take it to A Current Affairs or Today Tonight with out a doubt and if the time comes Ill be seeing who on here would be willing to show their vehicles with permission of course...........Toyota you deserve the bad mouthing..................Cheers Steve

Well I got "NO" from Ferntree Gully here in Melbourne and the bloke said that he has never seen that on any 120 series before, so I explained this tread to him and he looked like he was bored with my conversation, so after telling him a few choice words as I was really pissed off, not only by the dick behind the counter and his attitude but Toyota head office.
I googled Toyota Australia and clicked on the contact us and then followed the prompts and let and email explaining that there is a class action coming their way, as I am aware of heaps of car with this problem blah blah blah.
I then got an email back saying they will contact me within 2 business days and it's been 3!!! I will be sending and ringing them again tomorrow because they expect that people pay good money for their cars and they do, only to find that a simple part in the car ( THE DASH ) is F**KING cracking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick note ( and yes my dash is cracking slightly) why dont some of you go to a current affairs show? even if its been fixed?
put your case forward to them for the many many Prado owners that have no idea this is an issue due to PP?
Surely if you have acknowledgement from Toyota that this is an issue then thats a great starting point for ACA or today tonight ?.

My thoughts exactly Dean as per my posts 514 and 519 (page 52) and have mentioned it prior, Toyota need to know that people are not just going to give up. I dont have the issue with mine yet but I reckon its just a matter of time before I do.......Cheers Steve

How much is the dash as a spare part?

I removed and replaced a dash and centre console the other day at work and it wasn't too difficult.
