why is it that some dealers get it done & some dont???
I had mine to Mackay Toyota & had claimed rejected,
even after writing letter to Toyota customer service & Dealer I bought it from.
Can some one explain discrepencies. PLEASE..

Its Mackay mate... We bend over and take the length here mate...

BTW. My 2004 is cracked completely over the drivers side of the dash... Im not gonna bother fixing it at this point... Sounds like a big hassle.

Had Prado service by Autocorner in November, they stuffed up & didnt tell me about low rear brakes,went to Sydney over xmas & brakes went metal to metal on rear. got them fixed while in Sydney by a friend who runs his own workshop there.
When back in Mackay aired my grievances with Toyota & got the dash replaced at a reduced rate due to their stuff up.
Still cost $1300.00 though (better than original quote of almost $1900.00.
Would not take my Prado back to Mackay Toyota ever again, very incompetent & overcharge for what they "don't" do.

As a fellow victim of the dreaded dash cracking issue, just wanted to let you lot know that this appears to be a WORLDWIDE issue.
Simply Google ''Lexus GX Dash'' (it's essentially the same vehicle as our Prados) and you'll find plenty of aggrieved owners with the same issue in the USA and elsewhere.
Mr. Toyota deserves a collective foot in the ass for this, however I've resigned myself to purchasing a Shevron dashmate to cover most of the ugliness, and deleted Toyota from my new vehicle shopping lists forevermore.

I spoke to Mackay Toyota late last year 'bout cracked dashboard in my 120 & concerns that it could impede efficiency of airbags should they ever be deployed. Response was they weren't aware of any systemic problems with 120 dashboards ????

I suggested they have a look at the Prado Point forum.

Thought I might have escaped this problem now rig is almost 10 years old. Dash is now all of a sudden opening up like the Grand Canyon!

Hi Brett004 I have recently had mine replaced by Grand Motors in Southport Qld. It cost me $619.00 after Toyota offered to pay 75%. This was labour and parts. Very happy with the service they gave (espacially Michelle in the service dept) . Was assesed one week, parts arrived in 4-5 days, booked in 2 days later. The dash is definately a new compound. It is more like my neighbours which is a 2007 or 8 model. Softer, and more pliable. Mine is the caramel coloured dash as my Prado is Gold. Very good match to the other upholstery. I was sceptical as I had not heard good reports on this dealer but was pleasantly surprised. I think they have had some management changes in the last few years.
