Hi all.
First post here though I've read many in the past.
I have an issue with my 2004 Prado middle row seatbelts and wanted to know if I am alone here.
For the last 4 years my daughter has been in a professionally fitted child seat. Not wanting to compromise safety I have never undone the seat belt. I have now just moved her into the booster style seat where she uses the lap-sash seat belt as normal but have found that the seat belt will not retract fully. The last 8-12 inches has to be hand fed back into the body pillar.
Thought this was strange so had it looked at. Blasted the seatbelt and assembly with compressed air to clean out dust, silicone sprayed the belt to lube friction points. Nothing really changed. We pulled the seatbelt out fully and the thing flies back until the last bit, and again goes in slow.
I installed the seat to the other side for now (till I can get it fixed) and the seat belt here is the same.
Can't be normal that both seatbelts, which are barely used, are behaving like this, or are broken.
Is there something else which can be looked at like a simple lubricant applied to the retracting mechanism?
