  • roof rack fuel consumpion

hi all I have a 2004 120 v6 manual and want to fit a roof rack I am going to get a rhino pioneer platform and was interested as to what fuel consumption gains people have experienced by fitting a roof rack TIA

Around 0.5L/100km increase in fuel consumption

Don't worry about the increase because now you can carry a couple of extra jerries on your new roof-rack to feed that thirsty V6.

Didn't really notice much change in fuel consumption, but did notice the increased noise. I guess in a diesel you probably wouldn't hear it

The Pioneer Platform is low profile which is the best thing about it. Was your steel rack more like a cage? 3L/100km increase is a bit high. Did you do a lift or bigger tyres at the same time?

It was a cage but nothing else done at the same time

The shape will generally make a much larger difference than the weight.

The diesel can suck through the juice too if you drive it a little fast.
