  • 2nd Battery Install Questions - V6 120

Just a few ramblings as I plan a week off work to do a few jobs to the car and around the house

In regards to fitting the battery and tray into the gap behind the headlight (once the PS reservoir is moved) Does the lower bracket for the air intake just get removed?

I cannot see a way to get the tray in without removing the bracket? (i'll be fabbing my own tray)

Also is the rubber "thingy" in the photo a drain for the air intake system? I took it off and got a heap of dust out of it, I'm assuming that under air intake the two flaps of the rubber seal together? but they're there to allow some sort of drain once the motor is off?

    cheers

      Sorry Woodwormm
You could try looking up the Piranha off road battery tray installation instructions for the V6 120 Series.
Just from vague memory, you need to drill out the spot welds from the P/S reservoir mount. Once separated the part that slides onto the reservoir then attaches to the tray.
The rubber dust catching flappy do-hicky, collects dust and bugs etc. that enter the intake and get swirled around by the vortex fins inside the intake tube.
I would suggest that it self cleans however. Quite an amount seems to come out when its removed. p.s. Removal will be near on impossible once you have a battery mounted in the tray.
On the intake mount. I believe that is replaced in the Piranha kit, with an angle bracket to support the tube.
Even with the tray kit it was quite a task to mount it all up.

Noting your rubber "thing" is installed incorrectly too..
It's 180degrees out of phase. You can turn it and it unlocks from two plastic torque locks. Spin it and relock it. It won't work the way it's installed in your pic.

Cleaned mine out last night. It was holding so much sand from all my beach trips.

It will only go 180 on the locks. It should point straight down..

woodwormm just alittle note on moving the PS ressi you will need to redo 1 or both of the hoses (cheap job) but of course use the correct compatible hose because the hoses wont reach the new height. Im assuming your going to move the ressi just up from the normal position thats what i done anyway works for me. I fabbied my own tray and clamps and now sits a yellow top optima, just my 2 cents worth.
