Re: GXL quote - Toyota won't budge!

I've considered near-new / slightly second-hand, and I would except that I need to purchase a new vehicle due it being registered through a business and taking advantage of the govt's 30% rebate on depreciable assets for small/medium businesses before June 30. I may have to bite the bullet soon and make a decision about which way to go.

              The RRP for a 2009 GXL 6-spd D4-D manual is $58,040???
the price I got was in auto, on the road.

the price you quote excludes on road costs???
I have just ordered a 2009 prado diesel auto with towbar. The best price I could get from a dealer was $59k on road which was nunawading toyota in melbourne. Again i am sure i could have got a better deal but i wanted a red one.

i ended up going through privatefleet.com.au and paid $59 with option pack 1 and towbar including on road which i thought was good. the only donside is that there is a 10 week wait on new prados.

              hope this helps

Re: GXL quote - Toyota won't budge!

don't forget to ask for the factory bonus Toyota gives dealers. This is approx $5k which should bring down the RRP. As a start I have negotiated this bonus always to my advantage.

                hope this helps.
                Cheers,

The 10 week wait you mention won't be on Prados in general but as you ordered a red one, which you don't see many of (nice colour BTW) and option pack one, these have to be plugged into the production line

We paid $56,000 in March for a similar spec to yours. It included tow bar, roof racks, boot mat, hard spare cover and it was an 08 build

Re: GXL quote - Toyota won't budge!

I walked into another local(ish) dealer yesterday to speak to them about the Kluger AWD (before you bag me, I seriously need a car soon - the Kluger is large and comfortable and may do us temporarily until the update of the new model Prado comes out in a few years). I mentioned to the sales fella I actually wanted a GXL Prado but because dealers had dried up the discounting I was now considering a Kluger until the new Prado was out and tested (and its what the household treasurer wanted). The salesman's eyes lit up and he almost grabbed my arm with anticipation (seriously). He told me he had four in the yard and would happily give me the deal of a lifetime. When I confirmed that I was after a diesel, his face sagged with disappointment. He said, "Everyone wants a diesel!" He went on to say he was having difficulty moving the petrols, and admitted the big discounts had all but disappeared due to the rarity of diesels on the market and the new Prado coming out later this year. The fella also admitted Toyota, including his dealership, were doing it fairly tough at the moment and had to tighten their belts, which included being more careful with what discounts they gave to customers. His dealership had lost two staff in the last week simply because of the low turnover. Don't get me wrong, I rarely feel sorry for dealerships, but I could tell this guy needed some sales!

Back when the finance minister approved the purchase of the replacement for the commodore with the prado,we went and spoke to the local dealer down here and also in sydney.Local dealer didnt want to know me and basically requested that i prove i had the funds to pay for said vehicle....sydney dealer only gave us rrp+ floor mats and seat covers...

Unfortunately for them we had the funds(was going to be full cash sale)for a gxl td with tow, bullbar, rails steps and other mods the finance minister so wished for.....we were prepared to wait for the quoted delivery time of 8-10 weeks if need be......

If you are thinking of buying a petrol Kluger why don't you look at a petrol prado, big discounts on petrol we saved 6k versus the diesel and with the price of petrol vs deisel lately i think it will a while before i do my 6k. Food for thought. plus the power!!!

Mark, thats bullshet in my opinion. you signed on the dotted line before any price rise, so you should be able to get it for the current price regardless of waiting period. ( I would have thought)
