Looking at this in a purely hyperthetical manner (no slanderous statements intended)...
If, like some people mention, a select few Toyota service employees are apart of the car theft rings that exist, then isn't the following a little pointless?

Wont they know where said kill switch is, and exactly what its isolating... ?

Maybe the brilliant Nikola Tesla had the right idea, as adopted by this Australian guy.
And before anyone asks, NO, I am not serious. Would make an interesting project though.

* Hidden killswitch on critical, but unexpected component
The driver is a critical yet unexpected component right? Have the kill switch wired up to an ignition coil hidden under the driver seat. Run a HT cable inside the seat, bare the last 6 inches of wire, and fan it out behind the seat cover about halfway up the back of the seat. Switch the coil from one of the trigger pulses for one of the spark plugs. If the engine is cranked with the kill switch in the wrong position a few kilovolts enter the body through the lower back around the kidneys and exit from whatever point is convenient (a similar fanned ground wire could be placed in the bum part of the seat to be sure of a good ground). Perhaps not a kill switch, but will at least be a severe pain switch.
Or did you mean something to kill the engine?
SORRY, BUT THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING i'VE READ IN A WHILE

This is true Matty It is hard to trust anyone with access to personal belongings esp your car
A friend of ours purchased a washing machine from a electricalgoods store (no names) and the bloke who put the transaction through was using our friends card # a month later to buy some really expensive things. Not good Pie
story short if they really want the car they will take it, just things to make it more difficult i suppose, and I think its power to the ignition and something else Matty(dont quote me) i can ask
Heres one for thought guys,, how many people fuel up then go in to pay but leave there keys in the car ? Seen a car get stolen once while lady went in to pay for her fuel, i always take mime with me now !
A bloke here at work was filling up his car on xmas eve ready to head up to fraser is on boxing day. walked away from the car, with the keys in the ignition, to fill up a jerry can with fuel, when he came back, keys were gone (reckons it was a couple of kids nearby). Didn't have a spare key, had to have the car towed home, couldn't get a replacement key until mid January. Luckily a mate lent him his 4x4 so he could still go to fraser.

bit OT but I used to have a kill switch in my old petrol 40 series cruiser. labeled it "Fridge". turn it on and the car goes cold.
I recon the steering lock is maybe one of the cheepest anti theft options. Have to admit I've not used one for years tho. When I did use one I used to put it on so that it was behind the steering wheel. Supposedly it made it a bit harder to brake off if the crook was that way inclined.
I haven't looked for a while but last time I looked around for wrecking 120 series Prados there were very few around, Australia wide. I assume from this, plus new genuine parts are expensive, there must be strong demand for 120 series used parts. I had a Forerunner (Hilux base) before the Prado and there are loads of them in the wreckers mainly from rollovers.
