makes you wonder if they frequented this forum, given their liking for Prado's?

Having been on the wrong end of a stolen vehicle before I agree with MLC, hope the pricks get what is coming to them. I still remember the name of the prick that stole our car 20 years ago and got away scott free, hopefully I run into him one day (with my bullbar)

      Cheers Andrew

PerthNow seems to believe it is actually 9 Prados. Possibly all 120's.

It mentions the vehicles as stolen, not sure if they were from WA or elsewhere though.

Does make you wonder about whether they come onto PP (I would like to hope not but you never know) and how much information people put on here inadvertently.

I wouldn't take perthnow's stuff as being factual, more of a rough guide.

They weren't stolen. They were bought as written off vehicles and the hoods were fixing them up and trying to sell them as used cars. Obviously some dodgy practices with trying to pass them off as registered vehicles or vehicles capable as being registered. Some mucking around with chassis numbers involved.

That's why they steal other Prados for parts to repair the write offs they buy at auction. They swap the numbers on the written off vehicle onto the stolen vehicle.

Yep - it's mostly about identifiers and re-birthing stolen cars/parts. Similar to stealing an ID. Also helps with other fraud, such as insurance fraud. Say you've written off a new vehicle, but you haven't, swap vehicle with a vehicle that is already written off, then claim the insurance. Either way, the criminals are hurting all of us as they are either stealing our vehicles, or impacting upon our insurance premiums through false pay-outs. Worse still, you might buy a vehicle that has a false history (was previously in a crash but has this disguised, or actually buy a vehicle that truly belongs to someone else. Very sad then cars are seized from owners who don't realise they've bought something that they can't actually own.

They just busted a mob doing re-birthing here in WA, all 120s and stolen from the Eastern states.
There was a pooptrol and a Landcruiser as well.
The Police have these vehicles in custody as well as the maggots.

When I was searching for my current Prado, I was shocked at the amount of vehicles listed as repairable writeoffs. I found 5 amongst the dozen or so that I looked at. I treated all of them as potential stolen or rebirthed vehicles, wouldn't touch any of them with a barge pole. Buyer beware!
