    Re: Wiper blades again

The D40 Navara has blades similar to these fitted standard. They are awesome. $70 is a little rich though...

      Re: Wiper blades again

Andrew, I can see the Repco packet is marked as 560mm. Is that for a single wipre blade (@ $70.00  ) or two? Is it possible to trim these to match the standard lengths of the wiper arms? Will be interesting to see how they go.

Nick the $70 was for the pair. They come complete with the metal arm so you just replace the originals. I didn't need to trim them at all. The drivers side is the 560mm and the passenger side is 500mm (or the other way, can't recall). I measured them up before I bought them, because the electronic parts manual at Repco is wrong.
Yeah, hope I get a better lifespan out of these....

            Re: Wiper blades again

I have the Repco fancy blades. When i bought them they were on special and they work great.
Keep in mind however, that you cannot replace the rubber on these units. I have been to two repco stores and they have independantly told me you must replace the whole assembly - at $70 a pair is expensive!

I went to SupaCheap on Friday to get them to replace the right hand blade for $2. Warning to all - the book of sizes they have is wrong as it stipulates 6.5mm width for the right blade and this should be 7.5mm as mentioned above.

Anyway, a very attractive young lass behing the counter said she is an expert fitter so we selected a blade (rubber+backing) that should fit - off comes the old in 2 seconds, on goes the new ..(yawn).. one hour and 2 more staff later the new blade wouldn't lock in over the arm hook. At this stage I've taken the original arm back in the shop and found the correct rubber (7.5mm) and replaced the old rubber as I'd had enough of waiting and perving. The little group found a 4th person from the back of the shop and he came over and said "it's upside down" and within 2 seconds the new arm was locked on. I then got them to take this off, got a refund and put the old arm back on with new rubber I'd done myself.

              The blade works perfectly.
Why does this not suprise me   . Took the fourth "so-called expert"   to fit a wiper blade that would take a 10 year old about 30 seconds to achieve by themselves.
You have me a good laugh Whiteman. glad you got it sorted and enjoyed the views...

                Re: Wiper blades again

I am confused - not hard to be for me! ops:

Anyway, the original question from Davros was whether his setup with drivers being 6mm wide and passenger at 8mm wide is the correct way around? I cannot read a definate answer to this question and am interested as mine are same as what he has.

However further down a reply from Whiteman says the correct way is 7.5mm on the right blade. Does he mean the right blade looking from inside or outside?

An answer stating drivers is "X"mm and passenger is "Y"mm would probably solve my confusion - sorry for being dumb on this one but need to replace mine asap and dont trust the shop catalogues after reading several replies saying they are wrong and dont feel up to excess of $40 from toyota for originals. So what is the correct sizes per side? thanks in advance....

an old thread i know but ive just done mine for the second time this year . DEFINITIVE ANSWER . the long wiper which is also the 8mm one goes on the drivers side . the 6mm is passengers side , from the toyota TECHS . i bought some from supercrap auto at christmas and they were never good , but now they are hideous ie . noisy , dont clear the screen , skip ,leave streaks ,and i have a brand new windscreen .replaced all with genuine at a cost of $60 , sensational difference on all 3 wipers . aaah the sounds of silence. i won't be buying after market again even at $60 .

So I have found these at Repco and thought I would give them a try...

Bit skeptical at first, at $70 a pair , but let me tell you, after 2 weeks of rain everyday, the silence is bliss

Now to see how long they will last........
Went to Super Cheap today saw these blades, Tridon branded. How have you found them? How long did they last?

                    Cheers

I have those same repco all in one blades and they are the ducks guts IMO! Very happy with the performance. Anyone contemplating the same.... also give the glass a wipe over with RainX and I guarantee you will be very happy!!

Only paid $32.00 though. Over $70.00 is a bit much for wiper blades IMO.

                              Hi all,

I too had noisy blades only on the drivers side, i asked Toyota to replace them on my 90,000kms service. they are made with graphite and they assured me that the noise will go.
I looked at the bill and the price for three was i think about $60-$70 (dont have the bill with me).

Yet to see how they perform over a long period of time but they seem good as.
