  • Power Steering hose replacement

Hi All. I have a 2004 V6 prado. The rubber hose coming off the reservoir is starting to perish and my local mechanic has had a look and chased up the part with Toyota. $700 odd dollars before labour...there are no non genuine ones available and apparently its a part toyota dont make anymore. The only one available was in Vic..im in SA. Wife was there when he made the call so he is being honest with us! The hose isnt leaking yet but just curious if anyone else has replaced this part or also has it starting to perish? Mechanic said it goes into a high pressure section further down in the engine bay and its all one piece..hence the cost!
    Thanks in advance.

Your mechanic's not trying very hard. Take the hose assembly off (assuming it's the item 44410 that Andrew linked above) and take it to the local hydraulic hose supplier. They'll cut the fittings off and crimp a new section of hose on reusing the fittings. Might cost $100 -$200 maybe?

      Cheers

I know a bloke that is a private operator with his own hydraulic service truck, around Adelaide.
Has got us out if trouble with crane OEM hoses that take ages to order in from O/S manufactures, on more than one occasion.
let me get his details for you.
          cheers Troy
