  • Squeaking noise under dash

Hi all. My 120 has developed a squeak or chirp noise from under the dash. Definitely electrical. But seems to have no pattern. Ie cold or hot, towing or not, braking or accelerating. Originally thought it might be the brake controller but speaking to Redarc they say there are no components that would generate an electronic “squeak”. Cannot identify with any certainty. No code errors showing up. Anyone else had a squeak or chirp.

I've got a squeaky chirp that sounds like something chirping in the dash but I think is one of the driver doors exterior trim mounts being broken...when tapping the trims is clear its looser than the others...I'm going to pull the trim off and remount it in a month or two so I should be able to report back then...

Shove a bit of foam under the loose outside door trim, you'll be surprised how the noise from them can travel. If its that replace all the clips.

I had an old Mazda whose Speedo was driven by a rotating shaft in a cable sheath. Chirped like a bird. I can't remember how I diagnosed the problem , but solved it by removing the shaft cable and lubricated it, before refitting.

This worked for me! unbelievable I know, but it worked. The chirping was constant even after my mechanic was asked to fix it along with misfiring issues. Got it back running well but still chirping. I figured there were no errors showing anymore which is why they gave it back still chirping.
I read Weeman's post, turned the heat up to high and back down again and haven't heard a thing since. So grateful! Thank you!
