  • Removing the Back Seats

A while back I read instructions somewhere in one of the Forums for removing the "first" back seat. Not the "back back" as the grandkids call the third row. I would like to take the second row out for a couple weeks for a trip to the Cape.

Can't find those instructions now. Anyone done this ?? Mine is an 07 model. Anyone help with instructions please.

    Cheers

Can't help you with the instructions Gunna however I have found some links on another forum for you. If you read the links you will see a question about removal of Prado seats and various replies.

I would not worry about this however it is interesting to read how some states have booked drivers for altering the seating capacity of a vehicle by removing"FIXED" seats.

    Hope these assist....

should be fairly easy to remove them, i've looked at it a few times when i was in there on a cleaning spree.

you'll see where the mounting brackets are when you stand them upgright, they have a plastic cover over them which usually just pops off, then you can undo the bolts and you'd be done.

The whole legality thing has been debated long and often. On exploreOz there is lots of info.
I think it came down to fine legal points in the end and which state your vehicle was registered in.

In the end I think you would have to find a copper in a very bad mood who would push the point.

you probably know allready but, black widow make a whole bunch of cool stuff you can bolt in there, such as a twin level floor system that allows you to fit snuggly a 75L, i think water bladder. Plus also a if you look on there site i'm sure they do a cargo barrier you can put in behind the two front seats, that would give you heaps of room as i was looking at doing this plus getting a top shelf for the rear cargo area, but unfortunatley the black widow top shelf wont be legal/ to standard etc if i bolt it up to my milford barrier, thats what there sales person said anyways.

I am struggling with the stupid plastic covers. Don't want to damage them (yet), as my Prado is 3 days old.
Can anyone give me a clue in which direction to force off these covers?

Here in Ireland we have commercial land cruisers. Rear seats & windows are removed and consequently the import tax and duties are substantially lower. The vehicle is converted by a specialist coachbuilder before the vehicle is first registered. Here is an example: http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/Toyo...C3-Lwb/971592/

They are mainly used by farmers, builders, tradesmen (including myself), vet’s etc.
