    That would be interesting!

I never got anything for mine, another mate with a Prado told me about it. I had to get the service department to search for me, even then it seemed like a struggle for them.....

TypeR- I had a close look at mine and it has about 7 or8 mm to guards. There is no way the dealer is going to get another chance to stuff it up so I want to sort it myself. It is pretty even all round so all I want to do is drop it by a further 7 or 8 mm. The question is which bolts? The ones attaching the mounts to the chassis OR the ones attaching the bar to the mounts? I agree with Bazza- the bar does appear to move less with the new mounts.Neil

Yeah mate, It's the ones attaching the bar to the mounts. It's the 4 bolts on each side under the plastic covers. I had a look at the new mounts, don't know how much play is in the holes, but should be good to move around. The nuts on the new mounts are welded, so you only need to undo from the front. You can play around with washers on each bolt to tilt the top or bottom out as well.

Got mine back today after damage repairs. Not perfect but acceptable.
The clearances are at least 25 mm all round and the job look good.
Only had to do a minor repair/ adjustment to the inner l/h guard. Drilled the bar and cable tied the inner plastic guard to make it more secure.
All bolt holes are used for mounting. Appears to be 8 bolts holding new brackets to body and 4 bolt to bar , directly in front of main mountings. Additional bolts used to support outer edges of bar.

Had the mounts replaced yesterday with 70000KM service.( CMI Southside)
You wouldn't know it was done.
Gap perfect each side (approx 15mm) Same as before.
They unpluged the spotties and removed front recovery points.
              All fixed as new.
It may have helped that I had a good talk to the service manager prior to the job 8)
Told him of some problems from the PP site
              In all a top job

Thanks so much to the Forum for alerting me to this issue, as Toyota have not (as they say they do) sent me a letter about the recall. :x When I called Stewart Toyota at Sutherland they confirmed at once that my Prado was subject to recall and we set a day. The new mounts were fitted as required, with all functions restored as you would hope. They even kindly drew my attention to the fact that my Aldi winch was unfunctional, as they ran tests before they took it off. AND remounted the winch without complaint. A good job.

I checked out this site http://www.recalls.gov.au/ to see if there is an official recall for my prado, but there isn't one.

Am I looking in the wrong place?
It's not a lie, if you believe it.

I think it's a voluntary recall by Toyota so won't appear in this government site.

Only became aware of this issue thanks to this forum - still no letter fromToyota!
Rang the local dealer and he confirmed my car is subject to the recall. Personally visited to discuss the mod as I was quite nervous after reading this thread. Spoke to the service manager and he seemed to know all the issues and assured me that mods (spotties, aerial, recovery points) would not be an issue. Booked in for this Friday - hopfully will avoid the problems others have had (but think I will take lots of photos just in case)!!!
Will let you know how it goes....

You dont have to have a sovereign bar to have a problem.I booked in at my local Toyota dealer for the 40000 km service and they had written on the service sheet " check bullbar re recall " as i have an ARB deluxe bar i questioned this and was advised "Oh we are checking all bars" so away i went.On the way home i noticed a rattle from the front end, on checking i found the passenger side plate under the bullbar was bent and the rear bolt missing, as it was OK when it went to Toyota i rang the following day and they said no problem bring it in and we will check it.I live at Bribie and it is half an hours drive in however i took it in.Service department said "Oh we didnt check from the side and we did'nt loosen the bolt but we will fix it for you no problems,After nearly an hour the car was returned with the plate still bent and a small mild steel bolt and 3 washers as packing had been fitted to replace the original, and the plate was still loose. After complaining again they had another go this time taking 2 and a half hours and then returned the car with the bolts only finger tight and of course the rattle still there. I again insisted they tighten the bolts and as I had had enough i left for home.Once home i removed the complete plate with all 5 bolts then i straightened the the rear bracket and fitted a high tensile bolt of the right size. Total time 35 mins. Not 3 and a half hours.
So after loosing the car for one day for the service, 2 return trips to the dealer, 3 and a half hours lost the second day to fix a Toyota dealer stuff up that i ended up fixing in 35 mins.My car is once again quiet. Will i go back to Toyota for service yes until the discount service offer expires at 60000, Would I use this dealership again,NEVER and will i tell anyone who will listen about this issue. Damn right i will.Toyota spend a fortune on getting customers and service departments loose them so easily.
