  • Hi NTP
How is the gap between your bonnet corners and the bar up rights?
Mine seems to just touch on the black trim on the back of the post.
Not enough shims to mount it forward to give clearance.
    Cheers Troy

    • I didn't get any correspondence regarding the recall but they checked my bar mounts during my 50,000km service even though I have an ARB bar with winch. The recall sticker is now attached inside the door frame. They could not explain why I was informed about the recall.

Did you originally have a sovereign bar on there?

Not sure what you mean... but there still seems to be enough clearance all round on mine.

No. Never. I put the ARB bar on when it was about 2 months old.

            • out of those who went with the recall, do you find the new brackets squeaky/noisy?

i have this knocking/squeaking sounds coming out of the front (possibly the new brackets but could be something else) when go over kerbs or simply rock the car side to side by grabbing the roof rack.

              • It might be that the bar wasnt re-aligned properly, might be rubbing on the front flared guards - check that.

well correct me if I am wrong, but wouldnt the recall only be for those fitted with a sovereign bar as the ARB bar would have its own mounts???

                    • Agree with blackvx,

Why would it have Toyota brackets on a ARB bar?

                        • I had mine done after reading about it in PP. I registered with Toyota in Melbourne as the new owner, they told me there was a recall on the bullbar and put me through to my local dealer who did the job 2 days later.
It only took 2 hours as I don't have a CB or winch, they said that they have it down to a fine art now, they slide the bar forward and insert the new brackets. I can't fault their work, perhaps I'm a lucky one.

                          • Took mine into maitland toyota yesterday to get the job done , its now sitting out the front for them to come collect the car to find out why i have no blinkers and why its blowing fuses . Also they charged me $23 for 2 globes for the bullbar parkers which were not blown when i took it there . AS if you can not tell im not happy .

                            • They must have trained with the dills who did mine! They will have connected the wires to the parkers in the bull bar the wrong way round, taking out the fog lights as well. While they have it ,get them to check that ALL of the bolts are in and not just some of them.
