As a new Pradopoint member I thought I'd drop a post about my '06 GXL that is causing me some grief. I have seen this post elsewhere so assume some of you may have the solution. Basically I only get cold air out of the driver's air vents. The passenger vents are produce nothing more than ambient temp air. All vents have good air flow. In an attempt to solve the issue I disconnected the heater hoses completely - no change. Local A/C guy said the gas was OK as the driver's side was cold. I just don't get it. With the fan blowing through the evaporator and no heater connected, why am I not getting cold air on the passenger side??
I have the same problem on my 05 gxl, evaporator is cactus.
A/C bloke had a probe down vents, he said it was wet from gas leaking.
getting replaced on the 12th Jan 11
Would be interested in hearing back on the evaporator replacement. Can you post when done? I had another look at mine today after taking half the dash out. Can't see any signs of leakage anywhere including the evaporator. I'm beginning to think this has something to do with the dual system used by the Grande. The inside mouldings effectively split the system into left and right. On the other hand, I could just be down on gas. Despite what the A/C guy said, I'm only getting 15 degrees out of the right vent and 22 out of the left.
    Moonwalker,
all done now (took a while to get here due to floods), evaporator relaced, bag replaced, regased, cost $630.
All icy cold with nil leaks detected.

Notice the fan on the condenser wasn't working when the a/c was on. Can that be serviced or does it have to be replaced?

You know the fan only comes on when the compressor cycles on?

Have you checked the fuse and relay?

The fan motor is available as a seperate part. (You don't need to buy the complete unit)
