          Hey Guys,

I wanna put a oil catch can on my 1kz. Not sure if i should go the Chip it Tuning or an orginal Mann Hummel Provent Oil Catch Can. Thoughts from those people who have either would be greatly appreciated ? Also if anyone has any further install tips for a 1kz that would be great!

          Thanks

          Troy

its the only pic I have of the Toyota install. I can ask some dealers if they have any pics they can send me. Hopefully they come good.

                  Thanks

Hi, I installed one of the catch cans from Chip Tuning 10,000km ago on my 120 series 1KD Prado. It seems to be doing the job well.

However it is making a sound like a piece of cardboard in the spokes of a bicycle. I saw earlier that this can be cured by stretching the outlet check valve spring slightly. I will try this.

I have found the inside of the housing has water condensation in it. Most of this drains into the drain tube on the bottom, some is making its way through to the outlet hose though. I suppose this is normal, cold Canberra winter?

The filter is quite saturated now so I just ordered a new filter. Is there a safe way to clean the filters? I don't want the fibres breaking up so I have not tried any solvents or anything.

                    Cheers

                      Hi Rowdy,

Yes you can stretch the spring about 1/3rd. The sound occurs because the suction on the valve is a lot stronger on the prado than other vehicles and the spring is right on the cusp of holding and thus releasing which makes the buzzing sound.

We have strengthened the spring on the new prado catch cans so overcoming this issue.

                        Thanks for the info.

So what about cleaning the filters. Can you recommend a procedure?

                        Thanks again.
