4Hllc light on

Since going thru some not extremely deep floodwater on the way home (normal sedans were going thru it no prob) my yellow centre diff lock light started to glow.
It has all but gone out on the drive home (dried) and is probably the position indicator switch but has this happened to anyone else and if so can you recommend the best way of
preventing it happening again in case i want to go thru some real water!
