A word of Warning!

A friend and I ordered the Ebay jets from the link above, his arrived the other day and
he wasn't happy with their performance. Said they aren't as good as the genuine Toyota
ones on his wifes camry.

I then went and got a set from Toyota, can tell you the Ebay ones appear to be a poorer quality
molded unit than the Toyota originals, with the jet orifice poorly defined compared to the Toyota
originals. Now I might be being overly picky as I haven't tried them and others have indicated they work well?

As I only want to do the job once I won't be installing the Ebay units to try find out.

Maybe some others can report on their experience?

In the mean time if anyone wants to take a gamble you can have my new untried units for $17 with
free non return valves and postage thrown in.

I enquired recently for the Toyota parts and was informed they are only $30. Each.

Package arrived this afternoon and was installed using modified cable tie, was so fast no one noticed I was gone. I was impressed with the mod....but...I reckon if I was to do it again I would spend the money on original parts not the eBay ones. I have a 09 kluger which is set up like the 150 series ie washer and the bay ones aren't nearly as good. The Toyota jets spray further apart and are more refined if that makes sense :?: for those who haven't already done the mod!

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend the ebay ones. They spray out too much water too. I've seen the jet on the Toyota Innova here in Malaysia and they are very similar to the Hilux units and are much more "refined".

Another one to do the Hilux swap. Walked in to CMI Toyota in Adelaide and the guy smiled and asked which forum did I read. Proudly told him PP. His response was, "yep, seen a few of you guys!"

Wish I checked under the bonnet first though, all the plugs were broke!! and I still did it from the top.

PS, if anyone has the original cable tie explained or knows it please report to this thread.

Hey mlc, i had to trim the tip of the cable tie so that it looks like a flathead screw driver and you then push it from the front of the car so that the clip underneath moves back - make sure your under the thin piece of rubber that separates the washer from the bonnet wiggle it a bit and it will pop up. Use the standard size cable tie it will do the job fine but don't use the cheapie ones they seem a little to flimsy and flex too much. Again I would strongly advise to go for Toyota parts not ebay - not worth the effort otherwise :cry: hope that helps?

Hilux Washer Jets

Joined the Lux-Jets club. Picked up the jets from Mr Toyo for $45.21 then used a very thin flat screw driver with piece of paper. slid paper under jet as not to scrach paint then gently worked screw driver in from front then lifted a little then the back no probs. Another mod checked off the list.
1st one took 15 min but the 2nd only took 2 minutes.
Best bit of advise was post #147 from winniliss - take the rubber washer out first to give more room to access the lugs.
The Mrs just doesn't understand, you've gotta feel sorry for the uneducated. (don't tell her I said that)

Hey there this was a great mod, finally got a chance to do the changeover to the new jets today and I can honestly say they are incredible. One tip for anyone finding the hoses a bit tight to get off would be to pour some hot water over them to soften the rubber, slipped the old one straight off and the new one straight on after that.

Simple but highly effective Mod thanks everyone who has contributed to this thread so far.
