Its all even more strange now as I just went to the weighbridge and my weight out front is 1180 and rear is 1120 thats with 100 litres on board, extra batteries and fridge in back.
So Im carrying 100kg less than craigm at the front and with theoretically the same spring as Kings HD I am sitting at 780 and craig was nearly 820 with an extra 100kg.
The centre circlip position should only account for about 15mm so it all still doest make any sense, there is still 25mm unaccounted for

But in saying all that, Tough Dog tell me what I have got is what they expect and is spot on!!

      I need a spring spacer!

Well, back from my travels and the front hasn't changed - still sitting around the 803-805 mark. Very happy with the ride still, definitely glad I went for the HDs.

That said, it is going back in tomorrow for some repairs resulting from the trip. Basically blew the strut out the top of the bracket on the Cordillo Downs road (though at least we didn't have the problems of the 2 vehicles towing caravans that were ahead of us - came around a corner to find them sprayed across the road and being loaded onto a flatbed after hitting an unmarked washout at 80km/h, suspension gone, tyres blown completely off rims, etc.), so now I need to pay for all the labour again to pull the front apart and fit new Bilsteins..... At least the repair in Innamincka got us home.

(Also starred the windscreen and shattered a fog light on the Birdsville Track, and popped 2 rear sensors out of the rear bumper on the Oodnadatta Track......)

I went through all this with trying to get the correct height.... in the end I just bit the bullet and went shopping in the US. If you can afford it go adjustable coilovers such as Icon with a light racing UCA and toytec diff drop... all up cost you around $1800 in delivery, best ride you will ever get and the most travel... plus you can adjust your height at any time to suit

            Hi mate
Ive tried contacting Icon and cant get any response to emails.
They dont have the Prado in the US and couldnt get the equivalents that are suitable either!

Have you got contact info of where to get this stuff from that you could share?

BTW, are they adjustable without removing them?

Marc, isn't the Prado in the US branded as a Lexus GX470?

                Dunno? Isnt that a V8?

I thought maybe the FJ would be the mechanical equivalent since it has the same running gear??

ICON are adjustable without removal as long as you have the optional ICON spanner wrench tool:
                  http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/...em-p-1381.html
Also, at the recent 4x4 show at Eastern Creek dragway, the Toughdog stand had some coilovers that they were displaying to get an idea of what interest there may be in that product. They are similar in design to ICON and according to Toughdog could also be adjusted without removal. Maybe give them a call and express your interest.

Yeah you need to order the ones for the 07-09 FJ Cruiser (same as Prado). I got the extended travel ones which I'd recommend.... up to you if you want to spend the extra $$ for remote res. Call Demello Offroad, they were very helpful and shipping was quick. http://www.demello-offroad.com/catal...roducts_id=254

Yep adjustable with that spanner - you can get from demello

Another thing they did for me was reduce the invoice amount under $1000 so I didn't get stung GST

                    • I put on Bilsteins on the middle clip. Springs are KTFR-101H on the front and KTRR-102 on the rear.
They recommend not to go HD's in the front as they were too stiff.

In the rear I have black widow draws, Frige, cargo barrier and about 50KG of gear in the draws and a full 180 litres of diesel.
In the front I have the ARB Deluxe bar, lights, battery, bash plates.

                      Front heights are 825mm now
                      Rears heights are 805mm now

I expect it to settle a little, then I have 30KG of winch and about 30kg of AMTS Bash plates to fit up as well.
I expect the front to be around 800ish at that stage.
They recommend to run the front tyres at 45 psi and the rears at 40PSI. I felt this a little to high and feels it makes the front end steering a bit light so will try dropping the front to about 40ish to see what difference that makes.
                      Cheers

Marc (1coolbanana) has Tough Dog TDC974H coils fitted to his Grande with Tough Dog adjustable shocks and has reported 790mm with ARB bar, so IMHO with either the KTFR-101HD or TDC974H you should get 800mm at the middle circlip position on the Bilstein, even with a winch.

I hope you have front and rear dimensions the wrong way around?

                          • Ok so its been three days, and a bit of driving and it has now settled to
                            Front - 815mm now
                            Rears - 805mm now
With the gear in as above.

So the front settled about 10mm since installing
I still have the 30KG winch to install.

                            Cheers

                            • The back is way too low, the rear guard measurement should be 20-30mm taller at the rear for the vehicle to be level.

                              • I just spoke to King Spring HQ and the recommended with the weight loads ( rear draws, 40KG of equipment, cargo barrier, 47 litre fridge) , I go to KTRR-102HD 's in the rear. The said I woiuld get an extra 20 mmm or so in the rear then, and if need be, i should drop the bilstein to the bottom circlip on the front to tip it forward slightly.
I guess the other option is air bags in the rear?
