Whitey, FYI/ data base. I sold my 2005 V6 VX a few months ago at 151000 km. At 60000 it had the following fitted: front: OME 884 springs and OME 9000 sports shocks. Rear: 895 springs and 6004 sports shocks. The car had a sovereign alloy bull bar, driving lights and TJM sump guard.
Before the new suspension at 60000km the measurements were:750 l/740 r on the front and 770 on both sides at the back.
After it was 795 on both the left and right front and 810 on both sides at the back.
At 151000 the measurements were 790 l front and 795 r front. The rears were both at 810 [ but with polyairs at about 2-3 psi].
So after 90000 km the rears have NOT sagged at all and the fronts less than 5 mm. So much for the myth that OME stuff sags! The rear shocks were replaced at 60000km because one was leaking [ and the other is now my spare]. The front shocks were perfect. By the way, the 90000 km that this suspension did was made up of 50000- 60000 of long heavily loaded trips eg. Arnhem Land. CSR, Simpson, High Country, Great Central RD, Tanami[2] Oodndatta Track[3], Birdsville Track [2] Strezleki, Sandover Hwy, Plenty Hwy, Finke Gorge, Gary Junction Rd, Googs Track, Binns Track, Most of Central Aust tracks Ie the suspension had a bloody tough life!! Some of this was towing a off road camper.
The only issue I found was on the CSR when heavily loaded [and no air bags or steel sump guard] the front shocks had to be very carefully managed to avoid topping out on the rough dunes [ ie drive as slow as possible]. This suggests that the front springs were perhaps a bit hard for the weight. After that trip the sump guard went on and polyairs into the back and the topping out was a much smaller issue on a Simpson trip. I had some shock fade on the terrible corrugations either side of Well 33 on the CSR but it always only took a few minutes for them to cool down and there were no long term effects as the fronts were still fine after 90000km.
My new GX 150 diesel had readings of 760 front and 790 rear at delivery. The front has since sagged to 740 [at 1600km] with the addition of an Ironman BullBar and a second battery. The sagging took place in less than 500 km from their fitting. New suspension coming up in a few months before it heads outback.

Great report!
I always enjoy hearing about where the suspension has traveled and how hard a life it has had!
Your old rear setup in your 120 is a bit on the short side in terms of open length and coil free height, but it sounds like it has hung in there well!
So I guess the question for you is will you go with Old Man Emu again in the shiny new 150??? I'm guessing a big yes!
Hope it gives you as much adventure as that 120 did, lot of great adventures there!
Keep us posted about what you put in the 150!

Hmmm. Not sure at this stage. May go with Zordo's setup. Not likely to go a Dobinson's set up as I am hearing of the odd broken spring and failed remote shocks on other makes of car. OME is most likely given how it went but it is a bit harsh when unloaded ie. most of the time.I have also heard of a few leaking Bilsteins as well but if they last as long as the OME they will be ok. I never had any problems with the open length in the back even in the High Country. I have a few months to ponder and watch the 150 suspension thread. I may call upon your expertise when the time comes.

Std suspension for V6 Grande.
Soveriegn bar, spotties total of mods. Full tanks.
FD-730
FP-730
RD-780 (after 30 mins of shut down so air bags settle.)
RP-780 (after 30 mins of shut down so air bags settle.)
Looking to keep front TEMS shocks just changing Fr springs to hopefully get 780ish mm lift.
Will most likely keep rear bags STD height (replacements will be STD heights Airbags mans.)
Looking @ Dobinsons C59-300 or C59-302 in front.

Wondering if anyone could help a little on spring selection.
pretty certain i'll be going Dobinson Springs and either Bilstein or Lovells shocks...
05 Petrol, sov bar, dual batts, no winch (no plans to), intend to put bash plates and steel side steps.
rear almost always has fridge, but this is compensated by the removal of the rear dickie seats.. when loaded it has a camper trailer 100kg ish ball weight and full of camping/recovery gear in the rear i'd suggest 100-200kg extra in car. Will definitely put Polyaires in rear.
From all the reading i'm doing i'm thinking Dobinson C59-302 in front and C59-327 in rear.
Can anyone comment/help with selection?
looking for around a 2" lift.

Just adding my ride heights.
I bought the car with Dobinson springs & shocks in the front. I decided to leave them in for now because the ride height & ride quality is good.
Had the rear Tems airbags removed and replaced with King springs & long travel EFS shocks valved to suit an 80 series L’Cruiser.
The top spring mount for the rear is just metal on metal. If I fitted the cone shaped upper spring locators from a GXL or VX I’d gain maybe an extra 10-15mm.
790mm - Front
825mm - Rear (fuel at a quarter full)
2005 120 series V6 Grande, 2 inch susp lift (King/EFS combo), 32 inch MT’s, Safari Snorkel, rear diff lock, breathers, Light Force spotlights, UHF, dual batteries.
