changed a few things since my last post on measurements. i have now taken out all of my OME and are running on dobinson coils all round now.

in less than a year, the OME fr coils have dropped a massive 25-30mm, plus i also added a winch recently before i updated the front end.

i can supply a full parts list to anyone who is interested in how my prado is set up. i am running the new set up in, and i will post up some current height measurements before the week end.

a quick measurement was:

fr @ 835
droop at 900

rr @ 870
no airbags
havent measured droop.

just a quick update.

since fitting the winch in, and about 10 months later, i found the front end was down again.

my original front measurement was 835mm before the winch, and dropped to 815mm 10 months later.
so back into the shop, for a another groove in the dobbo strut 10mm up.

after wheel alignment and a test drive, the front is now at 840mm. full droop is still at 900mm as i'm not keen on lowering the front diff anymore at this stage.

the rear has been very consistant with the dobbo flexi coils at 865mm static height.

the rear Procomp shocks, which is awesome value for money, have held up extremely well. maybe even better than the other well known and well used brands available. i think they are about $125 ea and have some 'extreme' lengths available. i run a 700mm long (ext) shock in the rear and the flexi coils don't even come loose. i aven't done thousands of KM's on corrugations, but with what i can throw at them, they're still going strong with no bush issues, or leaking.

Just changed my struts and shocks from the Ironman ones that keep munching lower bushes to a set of Bilsteins. I kept the Ironman springs as they don't seem to have sagged much since I put them in 4 years/100000 km ago.
The lower bush in the Billies are much bigger than the Ironman ones so hopefully they'll last longer. I was getting sick of changing them every 20000 km!
The only thing I'm not so happy with is the loss of some downward travel.
Front measurements are:
Bilsteins 800mm with the circlip on the middle position
Droop is 845mm
Ironman 795mm
Droop is 865mm
So I've lost about 20mm of downward travel. Oh well, it spends a lot of its time on the bitumen anyway so hopefully I won't notice it much.

Could have got Toughdogs, they give you 890 droop on the front.

If you were to fit a set of my strut spacers see here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-Strut-spacers they will give an extra 12mm of lift, you can then drop the circlip to the lowest setting and get a similar ride hieght and more downtravel.

With my OME struts I have 800mm ride at the front and 895mm at full droop.

Measurements for my lift with dobinsons springs and firestone airbags. Unfortunately I can't find my book with original measurements but I know the front was quite sagged from 4 years with the deluxe winch bar on it.

Front 800mm
Rear 840mm

Rear is a bit high but i got medium duty springs and this is taken fully unladen with 1/4 tank fuel. Haven't loaded it up and measured yet.

I know this question has been answered somewhere before but I can't seem to find it now. At how many mm extension do the cv's bind without a diff drop? And with a diff drop, whats the next limiting factor if your struts aren't at full extension?

OK, so I've done quite a bit of 'bedding in' of my new Tough Dog lift, here are the measurements before and after.

Before Front 725mm
After Front 775mm

Before Rear 755mm
After Rear 828mm

Measured from bottom of rim to guard, straight up... There is 7psi in the PolyAirbags, which I do not think would do much, but at the full 30psi, it's freaking HUGE... no measurements on that yet...

I've been running on the factory setting on adjustables, which is SOFT, might change it up to HARD and see how we go..

Front: 884 Rear: 895 with the 90000 and 60004 struts/shocks

Before :

FR 735mm
FL 730mm
RR 780mm
RL 765mm

Now

FR 790mm
FL 790mm
RR 810mm
RL 810mm

Droop is 865 Front and 890 at the back

Interesting, and how do you guys measure droop height? Jack it up and as soon as the wheels are off the ground re-measure?

Thats around what I was getting with the OME Prado shock, I changed to 80 series rear shocks (OME N71E) and extended the rear sway bar links and now get 930mm. Pretty happy with that result, full details in my build thread.

If you look in the Suspension Database thread, the OME shocks are only 5mm longer than factory.
